It was a very merry Christmas for the Beckhams, with Victoria giving fans a glimpse into their A-list festivities. But missing from the fun was eldest son Brooklyn – and, it turns out, it might have been more than just conflicting schedules, as an insider tells heat that the Peltz-Beckhams are actively going on a Beckhams detox.
“Vic feels so hurt,” says our source. “She’s frustrated at trying and failing to have peace talks with Nicola. It reached an all-time low over the festive period, with neither Brooklyn or Nicola making any effort to reach out publicly. It seems that Nicola has now encouraged Brooklyn to have a Beckham family ban when it comes to Instagram – which is why they’ve only been posting about themselves and their new gang of cool friends.”
The Beckhams enjoyed an extremely wholesome Christmas at their Cotswolds estate, complete with personalised silk pyjamas and impressive firework displays. VB even treated fans to a loved-up snap with her husband David, 47, as she donned an “All I Want For Christmas Is David Beckham” jumper, captioning it, “I got what I wanted this Christmas.”
However, for photographer-turned-chef Brooklyn, 23, his holidays were a very different story. Instead of spending any time with his parents and younger siblings, the star – who married billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz last April – spent Christmas cosied up with his wife at her parents’ estate in Florida and sunbathing on a yacht with his famous pals.
While Brooklyn made no mention of his family in his posts, Vic made sure to nod to her eldest son as she shared pics with her 31 million followers, writing, “We love and miss you Brooklyn!” And fans were quick to spot that any mention of daughter-in-law Nicola, 27, was missing from Vic’s well wishes, with our source revealing that the social media posts have left the actress feeling sour.
We’re told, “David and Victoria publicly saying they missed Brooklyn, but failing to mention Nicola, was awkward to say the least. Even though Vic has tried to extend an olive branch, it still all boils down to a power struggle between the two of them.”
The pair have long been embroiled in a reported feud that is thought to have started after wedding plans went wrong – with Nicola publicly revealing that Victoria had made plans to design her bridal dress, before realising last minute that “her atelier couldn’t do it”. Back in October, Nicola addressed the rumours by stating, “No family is perfect.”
And with the Peltz-Beckhams looking to build a personal brand separate from Brooklyn’s family’s, our insider says that aligning themselves with younger, trendier celebrities is high on their priority list for 2023. “Nicola has a really clear vision for them as a couple, without influence from the Beckhams,” our source reveals.
“She wants them to front major fashion campaigns and really be a part of the next generation. She feels as though this is their moment to shine and, if anything, cut their ties with the Beckhams. Nicola doesn’t want to be part of Vic’s struggling fashion empire – she wants her and Brooklyn to build their own brand, aligning with more relevant stars rather than the likes of Vic and her friends. They’re really keen to expand their influential circle, and they’re looking for cool types who are making serious waves in the entertainment world.”
While Brooklyn already seems to be seeing less and less of his family, Posh is said to be heartbroken at the idea of losing contact with her eldest son, with our insider saying, “Family and friends are worried this is all going to devastate Vic – she’s already tearful and feeling really hurt by it. She really feels as though their family unit is being broken apart.”
And it isn’t just Mum and Dad who have a Brooklyn-shaped hole in their lives. Our insider reveals that siblings Romeo, 20, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 11, are also desperate to spend more time with their big bro. “The kids constantly talk about how much they miss Brooklyn,” says the source, adding, “They’re always asking Vic where he is and when he’s coming to visit. Nicola makes most of the decisions now on where Brooklyn spends his time, and he just follows her around like a puppy.”
For the Beckham family, it doesn’t seem like this is a family rift that will be healed anytime soon. Our insider says, “Nicola has said this shouldn’t be personal and doesn’t understand why Vic is still so smothering with Brooklyn. She feels that he’s his own man now and needs to strike out on his own.”
