Why people need to stop asking Olivia Neill where she lives

If you’ve spent any time at all on Instagram, YouTube or TikTok at some point in the past year, chances are you’ll have heard of Olivia Neill. Having racked up 1.3million TikTok followers, 772k YouTube subscribers and 753k Instagram followers, the 20-year-old influencer from Belfast is basically running the internet this point.

There’s a reason she’s so popular too, with her relatable YouTube vlogs and hilarious TikTok videos keeping her follower count on the rise.

Like many social media stars, Olivia shares a lot of her life with fans including her move to London with best pal Flossie Clegg and her relationship with ex-boyfriend John Fletcher. It’s no surprise that fans of Olivia want to know everything they possibly can about her given that a massive part of her success comes from opening up her life to her followers, however it’s important to remember that influencers are normal people too and have boundaries like the rest of us.

Searches for “where does Olivia Neill live?” are on the rise and while it’s only natural for fans to be inquisitive – especially as she’s previously scrapped plans to move back to Belfast in favour of staying in London and one of her most recent videos is a tour of her new apartment – Olivia is entitled to privacy and trying to find the place she calls home is a step too far. After all, how would you like it if your address was on the internet for all to see?

We’ve seen the devastating consequences of what can happen when celebrities have their privacy invaded just days ago when it came to light that Love Island couple Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury had their home burgled earlier this month while they were at an event, with a reported £800k worth of their belongings stolen by thieves.

It was only months ago that Molly tearfully admitted she “doesn’t feel safe” in her own home and had been forced to ramp up security when her address was made available online and an overzealous fan turned up at her front door after travelling five hours hoping to track her down.

Kate Elisabeth on 3 million YouTube views in a month, the Wave House and partying with Hugo Hammond

Inside Anastasia Kingsnorth’s secret reality TV appearance 👀

Kate Elisabeth speaks out on 'new chapter' following Carmie Sellitto split

“I'm not sure I've mentioned this before but I now have to pay a lot of money a month for an extremely high security for the apartment. I had a few incidents, I just don't really feel safe anywhere anymore,” the reality star and influencer told fans in an emotional YouTube video.

She added, “I didn't feel safe in our last apartment, I don't really feel safe here, I don't really feel safe anywhere anymore because I just feel like no matter how much you try and keep your life private, when you're in the public eye your life is never private. It honestly baffles me, I have no understanding how but the amount of PR packages I receive every single day from people all over the UK that know my address. I feel like one brand got hold of my address and have just sent it round. All these different people know my address.”

Not to mention that with violent attacks against women on the rise, we should be putting the safety of influencers like Olivia and Molly-Mae above our insatiable need to know everything about the lives of our favourite celebs.

“I am so lucky to have the kindest viewers, they honestly feel like my friends and meeting them in real life is the best thing ever,” Olivia told heat when we caught up with her earlier this year for The Influencer Series and if we want to keep it that way then we need to respect her right to share her life with us on her terms.

Only Olivia can decide where and when she draws the line and personal information is just the beginning.
