As much as we hate to admit it: October – and the autumn – is here. It’s getting darker and soon the clocks will be going back; but luckily, Big Brother is back on our screens to see us through the lengthy evenings.
The OG reality show returned to our screens this week, for the second series since the ITV rebooted the show last year. Hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best introduced us to the 16 new contestants who would be entering the Big Brother 2024 house – and one of them who’s already infuriating a few of the housemates with her non-stop chatter is Lily Benson.
Luckily, Lily is ready for it, saying that she knew she was most likely to be nominated for being 'annoying' but that she 'didn't care'. Read on to find out everything you need to know about Lily.
Who is Lily Benson?
Lily is a 2024 Big Brother contestant. The show marks a major life stage for Lily, as it’s the first time she’s ever lived away from her parents. 'No-one saying "wash the dishes" or "clean your room" – I’m buzzing for it,' she said.
However, Lily admitted in her opening video that she might not be fully ready for adult life.
‘If you asked my mum, she would say I am a cause for concern, because I leave the oven on and sometimes I leave the bath running,’ she said.

Lily hails from Warrington. On dating back home, she admitted, ‘Being single in Warrington isn’t the best. They’re all dressed in Nike tracksuits.' Still, that's not stopped her kissing them...
What does Lily from Big Brother do as a job?
Lily works at her local Chinese takeaway in Warrington, and ‘loves’ getting all the free food she can when she’s there (particularly salt and pepper chicken!). ‘I plan to work there for the rest of my life,’ she said.
And in case we doubted how obsessed Lily was with her job, she’s been talking about it a lot in the Big Brother house. In one conversation with fellow housemate Thomas, she did a lengthy recreation of how she takes an order on the phone, annoying a lot of the other contestants (particularly young farmer Sarah) in the process.
Why did Lily apply to go on Big Brother?
In an act of pettiness we can only aspire to, Lily applied on Big Brother to spite her ex, who is a mega fan of the show. ‘We broke up, I thought, I’m going to go on his favourite TV show,’ she said.
‘I’d never heard of it. When I dated him, he was obsessed with it and I was like, ‘What is it?’ because he was older.
‘When we broke up, I saw the advert and I thought I’m going to apply for his favourite TV show and get on it – I didn’t think I would. I also think it will be a cool experience.’
