Despite Love Island being a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many, Jake Cornish is one of a small handful of stars who have appeared on the show multiple times. His first stint came in 2021 for series seven, and then he returned earlier this year for Love Island: All Stars. Indeed, he’s actually the only person to have not been dumped from the iconic villa during either stint, instead choosing to walk away both times.

Although we’re unlikely to be seeing Jake, 27, make a return to Love Island (he’ll never say never), fans will still be able to catch him on their screens because the former water engineer is currently pursuing a career in acting.

heat chatted to Jake about his first-ever film Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire…

Had you ever considered acting before?

I've always wanted to be an actor. Going on Love Island I got the platform and then those doors opened up. When I got approached for Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire, it felt like everything was falling into place.

Are there certain actors that you aspire to?

My favourite actor of all time is probably Danny Dyer. I love Danny Dyer. I actually play football with him and how he is in person is how he is in on screen. He’s a proper genuine geezer, you know?

Are you nervous to watch yourself back? Or just excited?

More excited. I’ve seen myself on TV before obviously with Love Island, but it’ll be interesting to go from reality TV and not knowing what’s going to be shown.

Your fellow Love Islander Chris Taylor has turned his hand to movies a bit with Barbie. Did you ask him for any advice when you starred together on Love Island: All Stars?

He was in Barbie for something like 1.3 seconds or something like that - we had a bit of banter about that.

And Love Island is back! What advice do you have for this year's contestants?

Enjoy it - it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Well, I did it twice! And remember that when you come out of the villa, there's a lot of jealous people around so don't look into things. Everyone gets trolled. 99% of the comments are positive, 1 per cent is negative - don't read into the 1 per cent negative.

Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire will be in select UK Cinemas from 17th May then DVD Blu-ray and Digital Download from 10th June
