Love Island 2024: a sweet (soon to turn sour) reunion between Joey Essex and Grace Jackson, after they 'met in Ibiza' last year? Well...yes and no.
The hot Hot HOT pair met on a TV show a whole seven years before their turn in Love Island series 11 and, seemingly, didn't fancy each other.
When Grace was just 18, and Joey 26, they both appeared on Celebs Go Dating.
An internet sleuth found an old clip of Joey and Grace on the same series and, while they're not interacting, they are filming in the same location.
In the scene, Grace is chatting up Diversity's Perri Kiely (spoiler: things didn't work out) and Joey is chatting to someone else.
"So the Ibiza story was a lie?!?! 😭😭😭😭," wrote one person when the Celebs Go Dating footage was unearthed.
Someone else said, "So when Joey says I know Grace very well he ain’t lying 😂😂😂."
A third commented, "They will reconcile while out of the villa 😂😂😂😂 and get together."
Now, Joey has spoken out to reveal what really went down on the dating show. You know, the other one.
"I think we might have bumped into each other at that mixer and said hello or something like that," he said, which sounds very romantic (it doesn't).
"But at the time, I was already talking to someone else. So I wasn't interested at the time.
"Until I see her later on in life, which was in Ibiza, and she told me then that we’d met before on Celebs Go Dating.
"She was like, yeah, I came on Celebs Go Dating and blah, blah, blah. I didn't remember," he told The Sun.
Blah, blah, blah? No wonder he was such hot property in the villa. Until, you know, his actually quite brutal axing one day before the final.
And, in fairness, Joey and Grace aren't the only 2024 Islanders who had a link before their villa stint.
Uma Jammeh and Ronnie Vint shared a snog in a bar, Ronnie is pals with Matilda Draper's ex, and when Ellie Jackson entered Casa Amor she was quick to mention that she'd exchanged DMs with Ciaran Davies.
