It’s almost become a requirement that Love Island contestants have a large Instagram following and a celeb connection. So, perhaps it was only a matter of time before footballer Steven Gerrard’s daughter Lexie’s name was thrown into the mix.
Following in the footsteps of Michael Owen and Dennis Wise’s daughters Gemma and Amber, there are rumours that Lexie, 17, could be approached by the show bosses in the future.
Lexie is the second eldest of Steven’s four children with wife Alex – Lilly-Ella is 20, Lourdes is 12 and son Lio is six.
An insider tells heat, “Lilly-Ella is already a popular influencer and now Lexie is following in her footsteps. Both girls have caught the eye of Love Island producers – Lilly-Ella has been approached before, but rejected it as she’s in a serious relationship.
“But Lexie turns 18 in May and there is talk of her being one of the youngest-ever contestants to enter the villa. Steven feels she may be a bit young, but she’s got her head screwed on. Plus, they saw how well Gemma Owen did, and she was only 19. It would be a huge boost for Lexie’s career.”
Love Island seems like a natural fit for Lexie, who’s already proving her influencing chops and regularly appears on Steven’s Instagram.
We’re told, “Lexie’s already said she doesn’t want a 9-to-5 job and wants to make her own money. She’s got 60k followers on Insta and has done some modelling in the past.
“Plus, she’s not in a serious relationship. Producers think she would be a perfect fit when she’s ready.”
