This year marks Strictly Come Dancing’s 20th anniversary, which means all eyes will be on the line-up. And one star rumoured to be having his boogie shoes fitted is boxer Tommy Fury – but following videos of Tommy, 25, partying with singer Chris Brown in Dubai going viral last year, we’re told his fiancé Molly-Mae Hague has concerns.

An insider close to the reality star says, “Molly-Mae is adamant she doesn’t want Tommy doing Strictly, as she just doesn’t feel their relationship is ready for it. She knows if he took part, there would be a lot of scrutiny and speculation, because of what happened last year and she doesn’t want anything overshadowing their wedding.”

The couple met on Love Island in 2019 and had daughter Bambi last February. They got engaged last July, but reportedly went through a rocky patch in November after the release of the videos, in which Tommy appeared to be quite cosy with some of the female club-goers while Molly was at home with their daughter, sparking cheating rumours and fears that they may split.

Molly-Mae, 24, was pictured several times without her engagement ring and she addressed the rumours in one of her vlogs, saying, “Things aren’t always going to be perfect”, before admitting she’d “been going through it”.

Now, with their big wedding on the horizon, our source says Molly-Mae doesn’t want to fuel the fire. We’re told, “She and Tommy are looking to the future, and she feels that Strictly wouldn’t be a great idea, because it’s ruined so many other relationships in the past – couples who you wouldn’t even have expected to split.”

The Strictly “curse” has been around since the show started, and has been said to have impacted the split of many couples, including Louise and Jamie Redknapp, Seann Walsh and Rebecca Humphries, Joe Calzaghe and Jo-Emma Larvin, Ben and Abby Cohen, and Rachel Riley and Jamie Gilbert. So, it’s no wonder Molly-Mae has reservations.

“She knows Tommy would be the one the female dancers would want to partner with, because he will get a lot of press attention,” says our insider. “It would up his profile, but she doesn’t think he needs it – he’s famous anyway and earns so much money from his fights and social media.”

The insider continues, “It would also mean a lot of time apart and they’ve already had to do a lot of that when Tommy trains. So, she wants to focus on their wedding and Bambi, without any added outside pressure.”

For what it’s worth, from the moves we saw in that viral clubbing video, Molly-Mae hasn’t got much to worry about.
