Love Island fans, for the sake of this, erm, news story, we're going to need you to get all hypothetical and seriously get imagining, because a picture needs to be painted right now. A sad one.
Imagine you've walked into the Love Island 2024 villa on day one as an OG Islander and you're given your very own Love Island phone – you know, the ones that can only receive DOOMSDAY texts from LI producers and take snaps of one another that occasionally end up on the show's official Instagram grid.
Now imagine – after weeks and weeks of living your best life in the Majorca villa, meeting new besties, and finding the man of your dreams avec a little chin fuzz – being suddenly dumped from said villa on day 38 having to pack your bags, say goodbye to all your friends and hand back your phone with literally weeks and weeks of stunning throwback content.
Surely the producers share those snaps with Islanders once they've returned to good old Blighty – a souvenir of a once in a lifetime experience. No. Stop imagining, because according to dumped OG Jess White that doesn't happen. In reality, Islanders return their phones and never see those snaps and vids again. The savagery.
And let's be honest, they're all SO fit, which means each and every one of those photos would be grid-worthy. But no, Islanders are forced to leave those snaps behind when they exit the villa.
In an Instagram Q&A, the Stockport queen was asked how Islanders gain access to the pictures they take on their LI phones, to which Jess replied, "You don't get to keep any of them and it's so sad 😭 They just upload the ones they like."
No, sorry, this is unacceptable. Those amateur photographers took those photos, therefore they belong to them. And as loyal viewers we deserve an end-of-series The Hangover-style slideshow of all the snaps producers wish they'd deleted on the spot.
We've learned of countless Love Island rules over the years, but this one just seems a bit mean. Seriously, imagine the angles Jessy Potts managed to snap on those stilts – none of us will never know.
At least us journos have got the official episode stills courtesy of ITV – although, tbf, most of them are just pics of Islanders looking shocked and, well, Joey Essex.
