The new season of Made in Chelsea is in full swing and we might only be two episodes in but we've already had an on-screen break up, met a bunch of newbies and witnessed the return of Maeva D'Ascanio's iconic one-liners.

The split was, of course, between Jack Taylor and Livvy Barker and the end of their relationship has caused an uproar on social media, with fans left divided as to whose side they are on. We are feeling it for both parties, as whether you are the dumped or the dumper, breaks-ups are never easy.

But nothing causes controversy between viewers quite like a couple calling time on their romance and all the drama has forced both Jack and Liv to speak out.

ICYMI, it was Livvy who broke up with Jack, leaving the little bro of James Taylor heartbroken. Things went from bad to worse for Jack when Livvy had a little flirt with chef cutie, Kit Paterson, and even went for a coffee with the newbie.

'Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the lovely messages I've received over the last couple days/week,' Jack wrote on his Instagram story, 'while it's been tough to watch it all back, the support from you guys, friends and family has given me even more clarity on the whole situation (unfortunately just took a while).'

'While this is a TV show, it is very much real life. I'm glad to say I'm doing a lot better now, just bare with with all the crying and sad Jack for a few weeks,' he added, 'on to bigger and better things, much love.'

As much as Jack's message is full of appreciation for his fans, Livvy's message to everyone is quite the contrast.

'Just feel the need to come on here and defend myself as I've seen quite a few comments about me/my situation regarding the latest MIC episode,' Livvy wrote. 'The reality is, I was unhappy in my relationship due to repeated arguments and us not understanding each other, so l ended the relationship and tried to move on – as anyone would.

'Whilst I appreciate I may not have handled things amazingly 100% of the time, I was trying to navigate both going through a break up and being on a TV show at the same time. Please remember whilst this is our real lives, it is also made for entertainment purposes.'

All you have to do is head over to Reddit or TikTok to see people's thoughts on the matter; some are calling Livvy 'horrible', with others are claiming it is 'unfair' to entirely blame her for the relationship's demise.

She followed up the Instagram story with a screenshot that featured a note from her MIC co-star, Zeyno Taylan...

'Why do so many women feel the need to tear other young women down? People seem to forget you see a tiny snippet for an hour a day on a TV show made solely for entertainment, nor know what goes on behind closed doors,' Zeyno wrote.

She continued, 'And to the cast members interacting with vile comments knowing what it's like then posting to be kind on their stories / trying to prove themselves in comments you should be embarrassed mannn.'

Preach, Zeyno.
