We must thank three things for getting us through January thus far: All Stars 2025, The Traitors series 3 and RuPaul's DragCon UK – the ultimate celebration of all things RuPaul's Drag Race in London.
DragCon UK took place last weekend and, frankly, as iconic and camp as it was, we're still recovering. It's Wednesday and we still can't feel our feet and are still finding specs of glitter literally EVERYWHERE. Even places glitter should never, ever venture...
Zero regrets though. When we say we lived, we LIVED.
heatworld was lucky enough to be invited into the press room at DragCon UK to speak to a plethora of drag talent from across the Drag Race multiverse and not to rub it in, but we get paid for this. We'll just let that sit there for a minute like the specs of glitter in our crotch.
And let us tell you, the Drag Race queens were QUEENING – some MONEY had been spent on these supreme lewks and that got us wondering, what is the most expensive item in a Ru Girl's wardrobe?
To find out, we pulled a handful of our fave Drag Race UK queens for a chat to talk MONEY, HONEY and they were more than happy to dish the digits.
Here's what they said...
Bimini (RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 2)
Bimini revealed, 'I would have to probably say a Chanel bag.'
Danny Beard (RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 4)
Danny Beard confessed, 'I do own a £3,000 ostrich feather coat. And it came with a matching hat and it's fully custom. Was it three? TEN. £10,000 ostrich coat. It was a lot. And you remember the plant look on Drag Race? That was a lot, too. I need to sell some bits. Do you have a heat magazine Bring and Buy section where I could sell [items]?'
We assured Danny we'd make one for them.
Divina de Campo (RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 1)
Divina de Campo's most spenny item is a pair of 'red boots that are 14.5 inches tall.'
Divina revealed that they cost £450.
She added, 'Which probably isn't that much is it? I'm from Yorkshire, we don't spend money.'
Ella Vaday (RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 3)
Ella Vaday confessed to heatworld, 'It was something I wore on the tour and it's currently in a box. I've not worn it for almost three years. It was a corset – it was an amazing thing. It cost me £3,000 and that was the most expensive thing. But going on the season three tour, I wanted to look amazing, for people to be like, 'Wow.'
We asked Ella if it was bejewelled in diamonds to cost that much (as a joke), and she said, 'It was actually.'
The latest season (17) of RuPaul’s Drag Race exclusively drops weekly in the UK on the streamer of all things drag, WOW Presents Plus. Subscribe now at https://signup.wowpresentsplus.com
