Following the heartbreaking deaths of Mary Cook, Andy Michael and Pete McGarry, it was revealed that their loved ones wouldn’t be returning to Gogglebox and now another star has quit the Channel 4 show.

Paige Deville, who usually appears on her sofa alongside her mum Sally, revealed she would no longer be taking part in the show on Twitter as she hit out at producers in a scathing tweet.

She wrote, “I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox. It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, [they're] NTA winners 🤔.”

Paige later revealed the real reason behind her Gogglebox departure as she admitted she has “nothing to do” with her mum after a major fallout. She said, “There have been problems within the family and my mum was given an ultimatum. The decision means I have nothing to do with her now. I think the decision is irreversible. It is very sad but that's life unfortunately."

Following her mum Sally’s decision to no longer film the show, Paige was given the opportunity to take part with another family member but decided not to. She told BirminghamLive, “My mum and myself had started the journey together and I wasn't going to film with anyone else."

1) The Gogglebox cast had to be persuaded to star on the show

Gogglebox creator Stephen Lambert has revealed that they DIDN'T have anyone audition to be on Gogglebox; in fact, they had to persuade the majority of their families to be on the show."Everybody on Gogglebox has been found and persuaded to be on the show and I think that's the key to why they are likeable and why the show works, because we get to know these people," he explained to Radio Times."We've never advertised for people on Gogglebox."

Paige also hit out at Gogglebox bosses for not offering enough support in the wake of the fallout as she explained, “I felt I didn't really have any support after the split with my mum. They sent me a number to speak to a therapist. But I didn't feel like there was much after care support."

She compared being on the show to "being thrown into the lions den" and claimed that she was offered little help to deal with online trolls.

Paige also slammed working conditions behind the scenes and claimed that filming would begin at 3.30pm and often go on until after midnight.

Paige went on to suggest she and her mum Sally were second choice options to film the show when other “favourites” weren’t available.

"There are more popular characters on the show than myself and my mum like Pete and Sophie and the Malones. When they weren't available producers would contact us and ask us to film at the drop of a hat which we would do," she added.

Responding to Paige's comments, a spokesperson for the Channel 4 show said, "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”
