Love Island host Laura Whitmore has hit back at criticism of the Aftersun reunion special after viewers branded the show “boring” on social media.
Fans also questioned why fourth place couple Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank weren’t interviewed on the sofa like the other finalists and were instead sat among the rest of the Islanders in the audience.
However, Laura wasn’t taking any criticism lying down and took to her Instagram story to set the record straight.
She began, “Shall I clarify a few other things?
“Hundreds of people work on Love Island. My job is not to organise seating arrangements. I barely know what seat I’m sitting in before the show as set changes so much 🙄.”
Laura continued, “We invited Kaz to sit with Toby for his exes segment but she didn’t want to and it’s her choice to make. Everything is run through with the Islanders beforehand. It’s all about choice.
“I only ask questions that are pre-approved by the compliance division. A lot of meetings happen before I see the script and then I can add my own voice.”

It wasn’t just viewers who voiced their displeasure at the reunion though, as Shannon Singh – who was dumped from the villa just 48 hours after she entered on day one – branded the reunion a “f-cking waste of time” in a scathing Instagram post.
She told fans, “Well guys, that was a f-cking waste of time, but I went. Miss 48 hours gang,” and later added, “I ain’t bitter, I’m glowing. What a waste of time. There was really no need for me to be there but was great to see everyone.”
The Scottish model and influencer also admitted she had swerved the after party in favour of a “cuddle in bed with a Dominos”.

Although she initially made light of the situation, Shannon has since claimed she felt “bullied” and “mugged off” by her reunion experience as she opened up in an emotional video on her Twitch channel.
The 23 year old wiped away tears as she explained, “I’m in a really weird headspace, guys. I’m really sad to be honest. I just feel like the show has completely mugged me off, if I’m completely honest.
“Last night I was really angry as I sat about for nine hours all day. They mic’ed me up, briefed me on questions and then completely disregarded me, which was fine. I just thought, after how they dumped me, I thought I’d get some better treatment."
She added, “I’ve been crying and stuff all day, as I just feel like I’ve been completely humiliated in front of everyone. I just thought it was really unnecessary to be honest. It was kind of bullying, a little bit."
