Love Island bosses set to cast ‘all body sizes’ for 2019 series

The show will be more diverse

Despite it being one of the most popular shows on TV, Love Island bosses have come under serious scrutiny over the past four years, due to the lack of diversity in the contestants they recruit.

As the majority of contestants who land a place on the show, hosted by Caroline Flack, have 'perfect' bodies, viewers have previously called for more 'realistic' body shapes, and it looks like Love Island bosses have been listening.

According to new reports, the show's producers have decided to include more 'curvier' female and male contestants, with applications being looked through as we speak.

A source for the show told the Daily Star Sunday, "With everything that’s happened, bosses know that the show will be under intense scrutiny this year so they’ve gone back to see what it is the viewers want, and if there’s anything they can do to make it better.

“One thing that keeps coming up is the lack of body shape diversity. Viewers want to see girls and boys with bodies they can relate to."

They then added, "Sexy singles come in all shapes and sizes and this is what the viewers will see this year. It’s a really positive move.”

Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer: SPLIT

Although they briefly split in 2018, in April 2019, Jack Fincham announced he was no longer in a relationship with Dani, just hours before her book launch. (OUCH).

The reports come after Love Island bosses were forced to speak out over the show's aftercare policy, following the tragic death of former Islander Mike Thalassitis.

The likes of Jonny Mitchell, Dom Lever and Malin Andersson took to Twitter to hit out at the 'lack of support' the show gives Islanders, and actress Sheridan Smith even expressed her opinion on the matter.

An insider for the show told Metro.co.uk, "Care for our Islanders is a process the show takes very seriously and is a continuous process for all those taking part in the show.

“We ensure that all of our Contributors are able to access psychological support before, during and after appearing on the show. The programme will always provide ongoing support when needed and where appropriate."
