Love Island’s Joe Garratt reveals rude villa rule all the boys broke

How scandalous

Although a free six week holiday in a luxury villa with a load of sexy singletons sounds like a dream on paper, it’s not all fun and games in the Love Island villa as there are some very strict rules put in place by producers.

Not only are the contestants forbidden to get drunk (they’re rationed to one small beer or wine with dinner, FYI), Love Island bosses also ban nudity and inappropriate language, amongst other things.

There are serious consequences for breaking the rules too. Just ask Sherif Lanre, who was booted out of the villa last year.

But according to former Islander Joe Garratt, there is one rather rude rule break some contestants were able to get away with.

No getting drunk

According to 2017 contestant Kem Cetinay, contestants are allowed one small glass of wine or beer a night with dinner.Being drunk's an absolute no-no, so sex while intoxicated is obviously against the rules too.

No masturbating

No solo sex acts are allowed in the villa, though obviously allowed to get jiggy with their partner.

No nudity

Contestants cannot be naked in front of other islanders, since the villa is technically a public space.

No books, phones or magazines

The islanders are given snazzy phones from their sponsor, Samsung (what else would they get their texts on?); but anyone sneaking their own mobile phone into the villa would risk being removed.Same goes for books and magazines, too.

No inappropriate language or behaviour

This could cover homophobic, racist or aggressive language and is quite the broad rule. Inappropriate behaviour is again at producers' discretion, and would include violence and sexual harassment.

No discriminating against staff

Any Islanders who are rude to crew could run the risk of being booted off the show, and contestants must NOT take their mic packs off unless instructed to.

Follow the rule book

Simple. Contestants must obey the rule book they're provided with; which includes information on safe sex, consent and how to know if you're following the guidelines.

Islanders are banned from masturbating during their time in the villa but Joe spilled the beans on how the boys in his series got away with doing the deed on the latest episode of heat’s Under the Duvet with VOXI.

“In our season, a lot of the boys went to the toilet. There was a camera in there but you would just chuck a t-shirt over it if you were worried,” he revealed.

Our special guest Islander Insider Anna Vakili added, “They were all going to the toilet and coming out and bragging about it.”

We’re speechless…

Anna admitted it’s hard not to get intimate in the villa when you’re coupled up and shared her special technique for resisting the urge.

She said, “Lying in bed with someone you like every night is hard but you just picture your mum’s face.

“That’s what came in my head every time – what she would do to me when I get out the villa. As soon as you feel that temptation, you think ‘no, my mum would kill me’.”

Anna also spilled some tea on some secret tension between the Love Island girls from her series and it sounds seriously awkward…
