Nandos waitress turned Love Island star Liberty Poole appears to be smitten with fellow Islander Jake Cornish after they coupled up on day one of the current series and although things are going well (for now), a pal of the 21-year-old Brummie has admitted her love life hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
Liberty’s BFF Paige Skinner has revealed how the Birmingham City University student was left “heartbroken” last year when she discovered that her boyfriend had cheated on her after a two-year on/off relationship.
Paige, who has known Liberty since she was 11, explained, “Lib has had a rocky love life. Her relationship with her ex was very on-off for about two years.
“He cheated on her last September and that was when it ended. She was heartbroken. I think she found out because the other girl told her. He wasn’t having a full-on affair but he made a mistake and that was enough for Lib.”
She added, “Lib has never really felt loved and that is what she’s looking for on the show.”

Liberty seems to be heading in the right direction with water engineer (that’s plumber, to you and I) Jake and although he recently confessed his head could still be turned, Paige is rooting for them to find love and go all the way.
“I hope they stay together, they could win. He’s cute and they seem good together. But whatever happens, Lib will be OK because she’s so strong,” she told The Sun.
“She is exactly the person she is on the outside in the villa, so confident and bubbly. She’s that girl that will give you a compliment in a nightclub toilet.”

Paige’s revelation comes after it came to light that Liberty already knew she’d appear on Love Island last year. Well, kind of…
It turns out she manifested her way into the most famous villa in the world, as revealed by a series of unearthed tweets in which she predicted she would one day appear on the ITV2 dating show.
Last summer, in the height of the lockdown, Liberty tweeted that her complex love life should earn her a place on the show.
She wrote, "I seem to be in that many love triangles feel like I’ve earned myself a place on Love Island."
And look where she is now! Speak things into existence people…
