The 1990s were a decade of true culture with the release of Furbies in 1998, Tamagotchis in 1997 and the publishing of the first Harry Potter novel in 1997.
It was also a decade of incredible cinema and TV with the release of Disney classics such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin as well as now iconic shows including Friends and Rugrats.
While in the 90s VHS ruled the home cinema, nowadays, if you want some nostalgia, you only need to head over the Netflix for a huge selection of visual gems.

In other TV and film news, The Crown’s Matt Smith and Olivia Colman will star in a star-studded adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s children’s book The Superworm this Christmas and it’s the perfect heart-warming family film.
The story tells the tale of a strong worm who helps out his fellow bugs and insects until one day he is captured by an evil Wizard lizard and his scary mate the Crow (voiced by Rob Brydon) who try and make him dig for treasure. So it’s up to his friend the butterfly to lead a rescue mission to save him and save the day.
Superworm will air on BBC One, Christmas Day at 2.30pm and will stream on BBC iPlayer the same day.
