If you haven’t been watching Sex Education then, honestly, where have you been? The hit Netflix show which stars Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gawa and Emma Mackey has been on our screens for two seasons and a third is just days away.

That’s right, eight brand new episodes premiere on Netflix on Friday 17 September and there’s been some major changes at Moordale High. Season three will see the introduction of new headteacher Hope Haddon, played by Jemima Kirke, as well as non-binary student Cal (Dua Saleh) and former headteacher Mr Groff’s older brother Peter Groff (Jason Isaacs).

Who is Ola on Sex Education?

Ola was introduced in season one as the daughter of Jakob Nyman, a widowed plumber who starts dating Jean after working for her. Ola joins the students at Moordale High and enters into a relationship with Jean's son Otis.

Why did Ola and Otis break up?

Ola and Otis break up partway through season two after they try to have sex and things get a bit awkward. Ola later realises she is pansexual and has suppressed feelings for Lily Igleheart.

Ola tries to kiss Lily and is initially rejected before she realises the feeling is mutual and they start dating.

Ola took on a more central role in the third series, with her relationship with Lily in the spotlight. Lily and Ola hit a rocky patch when Ola breaks the news that she's not as into Lily's alien fantasies as she originally pretended to be, but by the end of the series, everything is rosy again between them.

It's fair to say that Twitter as been alight with Sex Education commentary since the new series dropped on Netflix earlier this month.

Is Ola Sex Education pansexual?

Speaking to Teen Vogue last year, Patricia said, "Ola is just the kind of character to me that I think from the beginning, you could never really put in a box. She really is the definition of pansexual, she will go based on the personality and who makes a laugh, and who catches her eye in that sparkly way.

"I really like that we show that side of sexuality too, because a lot of young people are trying to figure out what sort of box they go in — there's other ways that you can put your sexuality into. Pansexuality is also something that's never really been discussed properly before."

When does Sex Education season three start?

Sex Education season three drop on Netflix on Friday 17 September. HURRAH.

Teasing the new series, the official Netflix synopsis said, "It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.”
