RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is officially back Back BACK – and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it. The BBC Three show returned for its sixth season at the end of last month, with 12 queens from across the UK competing to be crowned the UK’s next Drag Race superstar.

Of course, as well as delivering first-class drag, the show also provides plenty of first-class drama and one queen who has been ruffling feathers is Chanel O’Conor, who is originally from the Isle of Bute in Scotland.

In the first episode of series six, Chanel clashed with fellow queen Charra Tea and viewers took to social media to share their thoughts. One wrote, ‘Chanel may be the low-key villain and drama of the season.’

Speaking about the disagreement between Chanel and Charra, Saki Yew – who had to leave the competition due to an injury – said, ‘I think everyone could feel it. Yeah, everyone could feel the tension that was happening between those two. At the time, it didn’t seem as big a deal as it was, but then watching it back, you kind of go, “Oh, wait, yeah, it was a big deal”.

‘It wasn’t really an argument, I would say. It was more of like, “Well, this is what I think and this is what you think.”’

When asked if Chanel is really a ‘villain’, Saki told heatworld, ‘No, she’s so sweet. She does say what she has on her mind. We all do it, but I think it’s her delivery sometimes. It’s a little pointed, but she’s actually so sweet.’

Saki was forced to withdraw from the competition after slipping in the shower and injuring her knee, and viewers saw her say goodbye to the other queens in emotional scenes.

‘I was heartbroken, I’m not going to lie. You work so hard in preparing for the competition, not only with your wardrobe, but mentally as well, because it’s going to be a lot,” Saki explained.

‘For it to be taken away just because you slip in the shower, it’s kind of crappy but you just have to accept it and move on. But it was nice to be able to say goodbye to the girls in the Werk Room.”
