If you're not hooked on Stranger Things right now then you're probably the only person in the world, like, ever.

The second series has just come out on Netflix and much like the rest of society, we've been binging our way through it, barely moving from the sofa to see the light of day.

But guess what? All those hours of telly could have been really different, as apparently Joe Keery, who plays the part of Steve Harrington, originally auditioned for a completely different role.

Yup, apparently, he originally went for the part of Jonathan Byers, Steve's love rival.

Jonathan Byers is played by Charlie Heaton, and frankly, we can't imagine anyone else fitting the role as well as him.

He's so moody and sultry and troubled, whereas Joe's character is... you know, a jock.

And it turns out even Joe admits he didn't feel he had the "right look" for the role.

Speaking to Vulture, he said: "Obviously I love the character. But right away, I was like, I don’t necessarily think I have the right look for that character.

"And then when I did audition for Steve, I felt I had a pretty good understanding of what they wanted the character to be.

"I also had a pretty good idea of what I personally wanted to bring to him. So that’s how the character Steve is now.

"It’s this amalgamation of how the Duffer brothers initially thought, and then the work I did on the side as well."

Well, we for one are happy that Joe played Steve, not Jonathan.

Imagine Steve without that dreamy windswept hair... it doesn't bare thinking about.
