Go on, give us a pat on the back for delivering you spooky season content you never knew you needed until now.
Although, thanks should really go to Most Haunted's Yvette Fielding and Girls Aloud's Cheryl – two truly iconic '00s telly huns of huns – who both brought this milestone meme into the cultural zeitgeist back in 2006.
Not us just realising that was almost 20 years ago...
Anyway, a little background before we get carried away...
For the benefit of anyone who's not old enough to know what Living TV was (Most Haunted, Charmed and Wedding SOS on constant repeat - peak telly), former Blue Peter presenter Yvette Fielding was essentially the British Elvira in the noughties and the face of iconic ghost hunting shows Most Haunted and Ghost Hunting With...
For years Yvette and her team scoured the country – and indeed the world – investigating the paranormal, resulting in the paranormal queen eventually being dubbed 'first lady of the paranormal'. Rightfully so.
Countless moments from the shows still do the rounds on Instagram and TikTok today, but one incomparable moment from Yvette's peak ghost hunting days is still remembered like it was yesterday (at least in our minds): when she went ghost hunting with Girls Aloud and Cheryl got so frustrated with one specific ghost, she demanded they 'tap the f*cking table' to prove they were really there.
And then, of course, the ghost f*cking did. Such a paranormal flex.
heat recently caught up with Yvette about the Most Haunted Live! tour and her new book, Most Haunted Castles, and we simply had to use the occasion to get the spooky queen to recall the moment a mischievous spirit tried the patience of our Cheryl.
'I just remember being so happy,' Yvette exclusively told heat, before legit cackling on the phone to us (did we mention we love this woman, yeah?).
She continued, 'Because you want things to happen, in this case, you want something to happen to Cheryl. And it did, and when it did I was pleased because she looked at me and just said, "Oh, you're not mad then, this stuff is real", and then after we finished that investigation, she turned to me and she said, "I really want to come back. Can I come back?"
'I think she was after bringing her husband at the time (Ashley Cole). I said, "Absolutely". She was a real convert and I love that.'
Yvette continued to reminisce about the now iconic investigation, mentioning another member of her ghost hunting team that night – the late Sarah Harding.
She added, 'Sarah Harding was so in to it. When we were having a five-minute tea break, she was there saying, "Anybody want a cup of tea?", making everybody cups of tea and standing and having a laugh with the crew and, just again, another lovely person. She really started to get into it.'
Most Haunted Castles, written by Yvette Fielding, illustrated by Hannah Shaw, published by Andersen Press available now, £7.99
