Only 2% of the world’s population has naturally blonde hair. Which means that, for the rest of us (who aren't naturally so but prefer to be on the light side), we have to rely on our beloved hairdressers and a lot of bleach.

And while nothing beats that fresh-out-the-salon colour, if lockdown has taught us anything, it’s that there are myriad ways to maintain and freshen up those locks in-between salon visits at home. From root concealer to pigmented shampoos, we’re spoilt for choice in the colour maintenance department. And it’s the latter, pigmented silver shampoos, that can really make all the difference for bleached blondes.

One blonde, who's in the know about the power of purple shampoo, is Selling Sunset’sChristine Quinn. Here, she talks us through her entire haircare regime and the products she relies on for maintaining that creamy, glossy colour.

‘I have always had a hard time getting rid of brassy and yellow undertones while maintaining a healthy texture,’ Christine tells us, ‘especially when on holiday, going in out of the ocean and swimming pools.’ Her saviour? 'I recently discovered the new Blond Absolu range from Kerastase while away in Croatia and I love it,' says Christine.

The range from Kerastase is specifically designed to treat blonde hair and includes a purple shampoo, conditioner, mask and heat protector spray. 'First, I'll use the Bain Ultra-Violet Purple Shampoo, £23.90, and leave this on for a few minutes before rinsing off and following it up with the Blond Absolu Masque Ultra Violet Treatment, £36.40,' adds Christine. And what about that glossy finish? 'I'll use Shu Uemura's Essence Absolu Oil, £45.90, on my hair when it's wet as well as after styling to keep it super shiny and frizz-free.'
