If there's one thing Mean Girls has taught each and every one of us, it's that Halloween is a stunning excuse for all of us to lower (shatter) our inhibitions and wear whatever the f-k we want in the name of beautiful chaos and freedom. So heed these three words, darlings: scare, skin and sparkle. That's the key to slaying Halloween, with both your outfit and your make-up.

And I should know – I'm a drag queen.

Beary Poppins, here - writer for heatworld by day, drag queen by night. I'm basically a much gayer and poorer version of Bruce Wayne/Batman, but I know how to sparkle like a diamond on special occasions; Halloween being a major one in my line of work.

So let me begin with this...

For the love of everything gay, please don't just focus on your Halloween outfits this year – the spooky season is such a sexy time to really experiment with your make-up, too; ensuring you stand out from all the other gals and ghouls. Seriously, if I've saved just one of you from over-applying dark, smudgy eye make-up, painting on fake bloody tears with a red crayon or drawing on f-cking whiskers, I've done my job as a drag queen.

Scary and spooky are always extra and fabulous, but opt to sparkle this season, too, darlings. Us queens always do, and these are the products that can help you do it (and won't give your bank balance a fright either). I'll be using each and every one of these budget items to ensure my sparkle doesn't dull for a single second this spooky season, and now I'm passing my go-to's on to you.

Think of me as your spooky fairy godmother in that last-minute Halloween costume panic.

Thank me later – or just follow me on Instagram or buy me a Jägerbomb if you see me out and about.

Formulated for comfortable wear, this long-lasting opaque liquid eyeshadow delivers high-impact, multi-dimensional metallic in a quick-drying gel base.

Polyester glimmer is a stunning product for creating beautiful, sparkling effects on body and hair. It can be applied directly to the skin or on top of Multi gel, Hydro Spirit gum or Supracolor for longer-lasting effects. It is available in 3 gradients of particle size from fine to coarse.

Metallic high-coverage liquid lipstick, perfect for lip definition with a pearlescent, bright shine. The creamy texture hugs the lips, providing a veil of liquid metal colour and it's easy to apply thanks to the handy flocked applicator. Another plus? Thanks to the optical light-reflecting effect, Metal Liquid Lip Colour minimises the visibility of lip lines. Available in 12 vibrant shades.
