Are you ready for it? That’s right, the European leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has finally kicked off – screams – and with a new section dedicated to her 11th studio album: The Tortured Poet’s Department, UK Swifties everywhere are having “a hell of a time” trying to learn all of the lyrics ahead of the concert, which sees Tay-Tay perform on stage for a whopping 3 plus hours, playing a selection of 46 songs from across her 18-year career.
Then, there’s the important bit: what to wear.
If you’re not familiar (or have been hiding under a rock) the show is split up into sections – or eras – if you will. Each one is based on one of Swift’s albums. Genius, right? Some of the most popular era’s concert-goers are fashioning themselves on include Fearless, Lover and Speak Now – but it’s not all girly dresses, cowgirl boots and sparkles. For a grunge-y, goth-glam look, there’s Reputation.
How To Dress Like The Reputation Era
Featuring bold, black outfits, embellished with rhinestones, crosses and snakes, blood-red lipstick and a black manicure to match, Swift’s Reputation era saw the singer’s style change entirely, in a statement to her haters and any press who tried to ruin her well, err, reputation.
The iconic ‘revenge’ album, which features newspaper-adorned artwork, (no doubt, a dig at media critics) includes her hit song “Look What You Made Me Do,” in which she famously sings the lyric: “Old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ‘cause she’s dead.” Just metaphorically of course, but oh, how we love the drama.
From country queen to villain vibes, Taylor’s wardrobe during The Reputation Tour was darker and edgier than ever. Think fishnet tights, sharp-shoulder jackets and knee-high boots, complete with deep, plum-toned lips and cat-eye liner. If you’re someone who always wears black, is more goth than girly – or you’re just ‘dressing for revenge,’ (sorry, wrong album) – this era is for you.
And it’s not expensive to get the look either. Whether you opt for a rep-coded catsuit, little black dress or Era's Tour merch with snake jewellery, here’s how to ‘stan’ the soundtrack to Taylor’s own villain era.
