Welcome to Jazz’s Short Stories: Online Edition. If you’re a fan of heat Style Book you’ll already be familiar with my ramblings about being 4ft11 in fashion, and, if not, it’s about time you improved your reading material. All jokes aside this, is a place where I share my shopping tips and styling tricks for those of us whose portions run on the petite side. Get ready to make short work of getting dressed…

It’s January, so what better time to indulge in new activewear? Especially as, like me, I’m sure your lockdown attire seems to consist wholly of leggings, even if you’re not working out.

When it comes to activewear I’ve always taken it as a given that the fit won’t be quite right – whether that’s folding up a hem or struggling to find a sports bra that’s snug enough. Yet no more, as brands are taking note and are introducing petite ranges especially for us little ladies.

So, here’s my round-up of the best brands currently offering sportswear for shorties:

I am wearing: ASOS 4505 sports set in rib in lavender, £38

ASOS’s own brand sportswear range launched in 2018 and It’s still my go-to for petite activewear, mostly because it’s one of the only fashion brands who cater for little legs. Plus, with an ever-updating range that includes everything from crop tops to booty shorts there really is something for every mood and style.

2. Adidas

I’ll be honest, I didn’t actually realise Adidas did petite sizing until recently and instead have always bought their kids leggings to get the perfect length! Thankfully this was brought to my attention and I can now get my fave trackies and high-performance kit without needing an age 10-11. Winning!

3. Avo Activewear

Avo

I am wearing: The Gemini bra, £32****and The Gemini leggings, £40.

An activewear brand dedicated just to us petite gals? Yes, you read that right. Designed by Ally, who’s just 5ft herself, I recently discovered Avo on my mission to supports more small brands, and with a mix of brightly coloured and printed sets available in lengths that actually fit, I’m so glad I did.
