AJ Pritchard has reached out to fans to address a tragic accident involving his girlfriend, Abbie Quinnen, and a YouTube hack gone "terribly wrong".

Earlier this year, the pair tried to create a vase by using a spirit-dipped piece of rope wrapped around an old wine bottle to cut it in half. The 'hack', which the couple had seen online, went awry and, after the bottle exploded, "Abbie’s whole upper body went up in flames."

Now, after seven weeks in hospital, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional has broken his silence on his girlfriend's injuries, telling followers on Instagram, "It came out that there was an accident with Abbie.

"I know we haven't replied to everybody. But yeah, thank you very much for all the love and support and the kind messages.

"We will talk about it further down the line when we both feel comfortable."

She continued, "I really need you all to be so careful with what you're doing & if you're copying any YouTube videos.

"I will be ok!"

The publication shared a photo of Abbie wrapped up in bandages from her head down to her mid-abdomen.

A source told them that AJ and brother Curtis Pritchard drove her to A&E after a 999 responder told the pair that an ambulance could take some time.

They said, "Abbie was shocked and in a great deal of pain but AJ sprang into action to put out the fire with a wet tea towel.

"Abbie was in agony and the brothers knew they had to get her to hospital straightaway to get her burns treated."

The insider added that the dancer is now on the road to recovery.
