Ashley Cain has updated fans on his eight-month-old daughter Azaylia’s fight against leukaemia after doctors gave her just days to live.
The Ex on the Beach star and his girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee raised over £1.4million last month to fund live-saving treatment for Azaylia in Singapore but were later told that specialists were not able to help due to the extremely rare type of cancer she has.
Doctors in the UK then delivered the heart-breaking news that they had run out of options to treat Azaylia, who has since returned home to receive palliative care.
Despite a “tough” week that has seen Azaylia rushed to hospital for an emergency blood transfusion and fluid retention forcing her eyes to swell shut, Ashley has shared his “crazy belief” that his daughter will survive.
He told fans on Instagram, “We had another very tough day today. To be honest, every single day is a very tough day. We don’t take Azaylia out of our sight for a single second at the moment, caring for her every need.
“Today was the first time for days that she has been able to open her eyes. The swelling and the blood in her tears is causing her pain and forcing them to stick and shut. But with relentless care and improvisation we’ve managed to help her see the world again.
“Even though she doesn’t have much energy, she loved to see her surroundings today and had the loveliest little play time. We even got a smile which was worth more than anything money can buy. As a parent it’s the hardest thing in the world to see your child like this, at home with the painful inevitable fate pending.”
Ashley added, “For some insane reason though, I still have some crazy belief that she will still be with us next week, the week after that and the week after that.
“But we aren’t counting the days right now, we’re just doing our best to make those days count.”

Ashley’s latest update comes after his girlfriend Safiyya revealed she was planning to celebrate Azaylia’s life by getting her handprints and footprints tattooed on her in a touching tribute.
Safiyya said, “We did some more castings of her yesterday, we got the prints for some necklaces, of handprints and footprints. And I was worried because, what if I dropped one.
“So then the lady was just really good, and she did these prints so that I can get a tattoo. So I can always have her so close.
“So I decided to get the prints done so I can get a tattoo, of her little hands and her feet.”
