Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins

by Nathan Katnoria |

Molly-Mae Hague has been having a tough old time of it lately after having a mole removed over fears it could become cancerous, so we don’t blame her for needing a weekend with her bestie Maura Higgins to cheer her up.

But the Love Island pair seemingly broke Manchester’s strict lockdown rules, which were put into place when the government introduced a new tier system, when they hung out together.

Maura appeared to have travelled over 200 miles from her Essex home, which has also been placed in Tier 2, to stay with Molly at the plush Cheshire apartment she shares with boyfriend Tommy Fury.

The BFFs gave fans a glimpse of their weekend together and regularly shared updates on their Instagram, which included going for a Sunday roast at a local restaurant before returning home for a Netflix binge.

The Greater Manchester area is currently in Tier 2, which means that residents are banned from mixing with other households indoors including in restaurants and at home. Social distancing guidelines must all be stuck to in all tiers.

Those living alone are allowed to form a ‘support bubble’ as long as it doesn’t require unnecessary travel, but this means that Maura wouldn’t be able to mix with any other friends or relative indoors until restrictions are relaxed.

The 29-year-old could however form a bubble with her fellow Love Island pals Michael Griffiths, Jordan Hames, Chris Taylor and Danny Williams (aka Destiny’s Chaldish) who live just down the road from her.

This all comes after Molly revealed that she’s set to undergo further surgery next week after receiving a worrying diagnosis following her mole removal.

Although the 21-year-old didn’t reveal exactly what doctors had told her, she admitted she’d been taken aback by the shock results.

Opening up to fans on Instagram, Molly wrote, “The mole has already been removed but my further surgery is next week.

“I feel it coming around so quick and I'm really bloody nervous but ✌🏻."

She later added, "Halloween is ruined for me this year because of my operation 😭😭.

"Literally the first thing I said when I found out the date 😫. Don't wanna talk about it tbh I wait for Halloween all year so I'm very upset."
