She’s always been very protective of her four children, but the past few weeks have really seen Victoria Beckham turn into the ultimate mama bear over eldest son Brooklyn.
The 22-year-old wannabe photographer-turned-chef has been ridiculed and criticised for a recent cooking segment on US TV, where he made a simple breakfast sandwich.
He was slammed by many viewers, who said he was just cashing in on his parents’ fame, and had no right being there because of his lack of professional training. And now, Victoria – who is also mum to Romeo, 19, Cruz, 16, and ten-year-old Harper – is taking drastic measures to make sure Brooklyn doesn’t go off the rails, by spending more time in America and taking control of his career.
“Victoria feels that Brooklyn is quite lost at the moment with what he wants to do and feels she needs to be by his side more,” our Beckham insider explains. “She encouraged him to get into cookery and make a career out of it, and she thinks he needs her help. Vic is a hands-on mother, and she is on a mission to sort out Brooklyn’s life now. She feels that she needs to spend more time with him to make his cookery career a success. Although the youngest two kids are still at school in the UK, Victoria wants to split the family’s time more between there and the US. She can’t help but micromanage and wants to get Brooklyn on the right track. He’s a good kid and doesn’t deserve the criticism, so she wants to help.”
Brooklyn currently lives in LA with his actress fiancée Nicola Peltz and has been trying to establish himself as a chef, after his career as a photographer didn’t quite succeed in the way that all the family had hoped. He has since started making Instagram videos showing off his culinary skills, with Posh, 47, hoping he could become a celebrity chef.

But as heat has told you before, she has clashed with husband David, who thinks Brooklyn should have had more training. So, now Posh will be splitting her time between London and the US to make sure she can guide Brooklyn. Second son Romeo is also currently based in America, playing football for David’s club Inter Miami, and Vic thinks it’s a no-brainer to be over there more. The whole family are currently in the US, while Harper and Cruz are on their half-term break.
“Victoria is fully aware that Brooklyn is a grown man, but to her, he’ll always be her baby, and she wants to help as much as she can,” our source continues. “She now admits that David was right and thinks Brooklyn should get some training behind him before she uses her contacts again. Spending more time in America is essential for her to help him and the rest of her family.”
However, 46-year-old David doesn’t want them to be based in the US full-time again because he loves his life in England, where they have homes in London and the Cotswolds.
“David is adamant that he wants to always be based in the UK, but the reality is that he is now needing to be in Miami more and more, especially with Romeo playing there,” we’re told. “And Brooklyn’s in-laws are in the area, too. For Vic, though, she doesn’t want to live in a different city from David or just see him half of the time. The family is split up – two of her kids are in the US, and that’s hard for her. She wants them all to be together.”
