Victoria Beckham’s worst fears come true

It was meant to be the weekend that cemented them as Miami royalty, and while David and Victoria Beckham were all smiles for the cameras at parties held in their honour, we’re told the events left an emotional Posh feeling insecure and worried about the future.

The couple relocated to Florida at the end of 2020 with their children – Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 16, and nine-year-old Harper – as David needed to be there to work with his football team Inter Miami. And after a year of setbacks due to the pandemic, the club finally made their home debut last weekend. To celebrate, there was a star-studded party at the Goodtime Hotel, held on the Friday before, with anyone who’s anyone in attendance – including Kim Kardashian.

The following day, it was Victoria’s 47th birthday, which she celebrated with a posh meal and drinks on the beach, but heat has been told the sight of David being fawned over by glamorous women the night before left a sour taste in her mouth – especially because it brought back so many memories of how it used to be when they went out together, with David getting all the attention and her being ignored.

“Being married to David has its drawbacks. Vic has always had to deal with women throwing themselves at her husband. At the height of his professional career, she even used to get pushed out of the way by girls trying to get to him,” says our insider. “It’s a constant problem – they’ve had to work through a lot of trust issues over the years, and it’s not always been easy for her.”

The source continues, “Things seem like they’re really great between them in Miami, as they’ve both settled into simpler lives and have been spending more quality time with each other. But now there’s the new challenge of David’s sudden elevated status – as the owner of the big new football club, he’s hot property in Miami. And Victoria has told friends she’s back at that stage now where women are pushing her out of the way – and these are feisty Miami glamour pusses, dressed up to the nines, which is quite intimidating for her.”

At the Inter Miami party, David, 45, was seen chatting and laughing with newly single Kim while Victoria looked on. And while we’re told she has no concerns about Kim herself, she does worry about what may happen in the future and whether she’ll have to deal with more rumours about the state of her marriage.

“Vic trusts David completely and is good friends with Kim, but seeing other women fawning over him at that party and pretty much wherever he goes in Miami is still hard for her to take,” says the source. “It was quite hellish at times. Miami has a certain vibe – it’s a Kim Kardashian-type place. Women go all out. Body-wise, it’s one of the most OTT places ever. There is a lot of cleavage on display, and a lot of skimpy dresses and bikini tops at dinner – it’s definitely out of Vic’s comfort zone. There are so many stunning younger women around in bodycon dresses making a beeline for her husband. In the past, she has felt humiliated by things like this, and sometimes those feelings just come rushing back.”

Fortunately for Victoria, though, we’re told David has been very supportive, and their marriage couldn’t be stronger as they get into the swing of the Miami lifestyle. “Rather than go for the same Miami glamour vibe as everyone else, Vic’s actually just trying to play up her own style – and it’s something David prefers, anyway,” our source says.

“He’s feeling as much like a fish out of water as she is, culturally, and they are having a real giggle about it. She knows he’s a bit horrified by how forward the women are, and some of the fashion, too. He tells Vic every day that he finds her style way more attractive. For a joke, she even dressed up in Miami style one evening and he was a bit taken aback. They are in such a good place at the moment, and she really doesn’t want to have any trust issues, so she’s trying not to let it be a big deal. But at the same time, she’s adamant about attending all the events with him – she wants to send out a message to all these women that she is his wife, and that she’s now the Queen of Miami.”

David made sure Victoria felt special on her birthday by organising a dinner with friends, followed by a party on the beach. He also posted a gushing message to her on Instagram, while Victoria posted a picture of them cuddling with the caption, “I love you.” She also made sure she was in the stands for Inter Miami’s home debut at their new stadium, along with the kids and the billionaire family of Brooklyn’s fiancé, Nicola Peltz.

Even though Miami lost the match, we’re told the event was a big success commercially, and now David’s looking forward to welcoming more and more influential people to the stadium. He, of course, will need to be based in Miami for a while longer, and although Posh has extended her stay there, she knows that, eventually, she will need to return to the UK to work on her fashion brand and for the kids to be back at school, and it’s going to be tough.

“Their marriage is in a greatly improved place and they’ve made a pact to be together pretty much the whole time, instead of those long absences,” our insider says. “It’s a set rule now that if David’s going to these boozy clubs or parties, then Vic will go with him whenever she can, and he doesn’t argue with her about that – he actually wants it like that. She has been very involved in the Inter Miami project, especially in the branding and marketing, and it was actually her idea to invite Kim to the party.”

The insider adds, “Being around to support David was a big factor in why she stayed in Miami for so long. If she was in London, then she would be constantly worried about him being out and other women potentially throwing themselves at him, although she knows she can trust him. Their marriage has been going so well at the moment because they’re spending so much time together, so it’s hard to even think about the impact it will have when she goes back to the UK. But, he needs to be in Miami full time for now.”

The insider adds, “Any trust issues that she may have had have disappeared and David constantly reassures her that it’s all going to be OK.”
