Brooklyn Beckham becomes a £1m model

He may only be 22 years old, but Brooklyn Beckham has certainly had his fair share of careers so far – and last week, he launched himself as a highly paid model. The eldest son of David and Victoria was announced as the new face of Superdry, who he has collaborated with on a sustainable collection in a £1million deal.

He was joined by fiancée Nicola Peltz at the launch party in London, where guests also included Liam Gallagher’s celebrikids Lennon, Gene and Molly. And we’re told that while his parents are very proud of him, they’re worried about the backlash as people ridicule him for being unable to hold down a job without the help of Posh and Becks.

“Brooklyn’s career is a bit of a joke to some people, but Victoria is determined to turn that around, and is 100 per cent focused on making sure he comes out of this winning, no matter what it takes,” our insider says.

“There have been a few false starts, and Brooklyn has flitted around a bit. He grew up thinking he would be a celebrity, and I guess the family thought so, too – he always talked about how he was going to pursue photography as a profession. It didn’t work out, and since then he’s gone from one thing to another. Now, Posh has come in to take control.”

When Brooklyn left school, he went to photography college in the US, but dropped out after six months and was taken on as an intern with renowned photographer Rankin. He’s also released his own photography book, worked with Sir David Attenborough, appeared in fashion campaigns with Nicola, and has recently been trying to make it as a celebrity chef.

But he has been met with a lot of criticism as people claim he has only been given these opportunities because of his famous parents. His latest career move was met with anger by some, who said, “He would never have got this gig if he wasn’t a Beckham,” and accused him of “taking away work from actual models”, which upsets David, 46, and Victoria, 47.

“It’s a real sore point for them as they are so supportive of him and can recognise that he’s just a young guy trying to find his way in the world,” we’re told. “But he’s under extra pressure because of them, even though they know their name has helped him get a lot of opportunities. Brooklyn may not have done the same training and work as others, but of course companies are going to hire him as he brings lots of publicity and attention. It’s not his fault.”

Now, Victoria – who also has Romeo, 19, Cruz, 16, and ten-year-old Harper – has decided to take charge. “She’s taken control with Brooklyn’s full support,” our source says.

“A few years back, he had total resistance to anything that his parents tried to set up for him, but he’s learnt the hard way. She is on a mission to grow his profile as the next David Beckham – basically a builder of brands. Posh has a big plan for Brooklyn and Nicola – she knows that, despite the jokes aimed at him, he has a huge social media following among kids his own age. That counts for more with brands – purchase power, that’s all they care about. Brooklyn really will become the big star of the Beckham family.”
