Every mother dreads the eventual empty nest, and poor Victoria Beckham’s nest is getting emptier by the day. After losing 22-year-old son Brooklyn to New York – well, to his lovely fiancée Nicola Peltz, to be fair – we’re told Victoria is dreading Romeo leaving her for a football career in Miami.
“As proud as she is of Romeo, and how hard he’s training and focusing to make a future for himself, Posh is gutted that she’s losing her lovely boy – and it feels like she’s losing all the men in her life now,” a source tells heat.
“Her kids are her reason for living, and with Brooklyn and now Romeo set to be living full-time in the US, it’s a blow to her. Also, she thinks that with Romeo over there, David is more likely to stay in the US for longer time periods, too.”
Earlier this year, Victoria spoke about Romeo spending most of his time in Florida while training with Inter Miami football club – the club owned by his father, David. She admitted the 18 year old wanted to pursue a career in football, but joked that she’d rather her kids stayed home.
“Selfishly, I’d love it if all my kids would stay in London, but I’m pleased that they are ambitious,” Victoria said in the interview, adding, “Anyway, I was on a world tour when I was Romeo’s age.”

While it’s clear Victoria wants Romeo to pursue his dreams, she’s also worried about the changes it may bring for the family. “She’s Romeo’s biggest cheerleader and has really encouraged him to put his everything into this – but it’s also really difficult for her,” our source reveals.
“Some days, she says she’s ready to pack up and move to the US in a flash – but they have to think about Harper’s schooling, and their parents. It’s such a dilemma for Victoria. As much as she had an amazing time in Miami, she’s not entirely sure it’s the solution for the entire family to move over there. David and Vic spent ages on their dream houses in the UK, and their families need them close by – Vic’s parents are getting older. It’s an emotional decision.”
Look! More news!
The family have travelled back and forth between the US and the UK while supporting David and Inter Miami, but it seems Victoria isn’t quite ready to make the move a permanent thing.
“She doesn’t have many friends or a network there,” we’re told. “It would honestly take a few years to really settle in and she’s just not sure she has the energy for that right now. Harper doesn’t love the idea of moving there, but also misses her brothers. Vic feels like it’s really breaking up the family and it’s hard to know what the right decision is for them all.”
