When we heard that this year’s Celebrity Big Brother line-up was going to include Love Island’s Chris Hughes and TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise, we ALL thought they were going to strike up a romance.

However, in a massive turn of events, Ella and Chris haven’t really bonded at all and he’s instead been spending most of his time on CBB 2025 hanging around with JoJo Siwa. Yeah, we didn’t see that coming at all...

Chris recently branded Ella ‘jealous’ and now his close pal Jake Quickenden has weighed in on the situation in an exclusive interview with heat.

Speaking about the dynamic between Chris and Ella, the former X Factor star told us, ‘She seems to hate him! Chris is Marmite. Not everyone will get his personality and his sarcastic nature. He’s just a wind up.

‘I don’t think me and Chris have ever said anything nice to each other the whole time we’ve known each other. We just wind each other up. But that’s the way it is, you know what I mean?

‘I think maybe they thought they would find each other attractive, got to know each other, and then they said “Actually, no, not for me.” And that’s fine, isn’t it.’

Jake added, ‘The only thing is, I will say Ella is coming across a little bitter about Chris and JoJo - but then they are in the house with each other and under each other’s noses all the time.

‘You’ve got to have opinions, and you’re going to have people that annoy you to high heavens – and Chris is only going to get more annoying the more settled in he is.’

Jake isn’t Chris’ only celeb pal to speak out about him in the CBB house as fellow Love Islander Frankie Foster recently defended him against those ‘game playing’ accusations.

The Love Island 2018 star said, ‘He's very honest. With Chris, what you see is what you get. He's pretty honest. He's a straight shooter. He just kind of says how it is, which some people would question.

‘They've always said, “Is it an act with Chris? Is he playing up to the cameras?” He’s not, he just genuinely is like that. He would definitely stick up for people if he’s got an opinion, he's not shy.’
