Is it just us or did this year’s Big Brother give Love Island a run for its money a little bit? There was so much love in the air in the house that the social experiment looked more like a dating show at times.
Of course, there was the blossoming romance between Nathan King and Baked Potato (aka Rosie Williams), as well as the flirty banter between Segun Shodipo and Hanah Haji that sparked rumours they could be more than just friends. Even Marcello Spooks and Emma Morgan looked lips at one point, during a game of spin the bottle.
Despite viewers and housemates alike thinking that there could be romantic feelings between them, Segun and Hanah always insisted they were nothing more than friends. However, things took a turn when Hanah came out of the house and hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best showed her comments Segun had made behind her back about how she ‘always comes up to him’.
It's fair to say that Hanah wasn’t best pleased and told Segun in no uncertain terms that they’d be having words about his remarks. However, Segun has now revealed that he’s not spoken to Hanah yet and, if we’re honest, it’s giving frosty.
We recently caught up with some of the finalist for a post-show debrief and Segun told us, ‘I haven’t actually spoken to Hanah at all. The last conversation I had with Hanah is through her home girls vicariously. They were actually very sweet, as much as I kind of expected them to be on my back. When I saw them on the Friday they were very sweet and even the morning after as well, they came to give me love.
‘They were like, “Listen, we’re sorry about what’s going on. We understand it’s a bit of a circus.” So, yeah, I haven’t spoken to her directly.’
But although they might not be on the best terms at the moment, Segun admitted that he wants to make amends with his ‘sister’.
He added, ‘The plan is to do that in the future but I’m still working on navigating how to go about that and also, we’re just kind of decompressing and recalibrating to life as well.
‘Definitely in the future I’d love to reconcile because we did have a wonderful friendship, she was my sister in there. Everything was genuine, so I don’t want that just to end because of what people may be seeing and what rumours were spreading.’
Segun previously revealed to Big Brother that he had been dating someone in the outside world who ‘had his heart’ and when quizzed about her reaction to his relationship with Hanah, he explained, ‘This whole thing with me and Hanah is very much misconstrued, massively. She reacted quite positively though.
‘When I was on the show, I was even talking about this with Marcello. I was quite nervous about how she might receive some of it, because when you’re in the house you’re locked away.
‘When I went there, she actually gave me such a positive welcome. Such a nice invitation and she let me know, ‘I know you and I know what you’re like, I know you’re a sweet person and I know people have got the wrong end of you. She understood where I am and what I stand on and things are really good.’
