We sometimes forget that the stars of Love Island had a life before they took part in the dating show and ruled our reality TV obsessed lives for one hot summer.
Some of them had proper adult jobs, you know? The likes of Love Island 2022 finalist Paige Thorne was a paramedic and Love Island 2017 fan favourite Camilla Thurlow worked in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit. WILD.
But then an ITV producer slid into their DM's and they said goodbye to ambulances and bombs and hello to fire pit recouplings and metallic bikinis.
Another former Islander who had a hella random but also boujee job pre-Love Island is season 8 winner, Davide Sanclimenti.
The self-confessed 'Italian snack' was a guest on Chloe Burrows' podcast, Chloe vs. The World, this week where he opened up about how he was scouted for the romance reality TV show.
"They found me in a nightclub, in Chinawhite," Davide confessed and trust the gym bro to be working at the fanciest club around.
"On my last night [working] there someone from ITV approached me," he explained, "'We are casting for a new TV program,' they said Love Island."
Davide also revealed it wasn't the first time he had been approached about taking part in the dating show but he had a valid reason for turning it down first time around.
"When I moved to the UK, they wrote to me on Instagram but like I said I didn’t speak English so I said, ‘What am I going to do on TV if I don’t speak English?’ So I said no."
Iconic. We're not sure he would have been able to win over Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu had they not been able to speak the same language.
"But then they approached me in Chinawhite," he went on, "My English was slightly better and I said, ‘OK yeah, take my number.’"
Love Island 2021 finalist turned podcaster Chloe also quizzed Davide about why he didn't take part in the All Stars spin-off.
"I wanted to go on there, but it was too fresh with Ekin," he confessed as the duo had only recently split up.
Ekin may have jumped at the chance to be a Big Brother housemate but I think we can all agree that living in the CBB house is a slightly different experience to grafting in the Love Island villa.
When Chloe asked if Davide would take part in the show if it ever came around again, Davide offered the response we were all after...
"If I’m single, yeah."
After the success of the first All Stars series we have a sneaking suspicion that ITV will be more than happy to green light a second season and it looks as though they already have one Islander ready to sign up.
