Despite being coupled up since day one – and the first couple to become official boyfriend and girlfriend – cracks have started to appear in Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish’s relationship in recent weeks.
The pair first hit the rocks when the Movie Night challenge revealed Jake had told the boys he “didn’t want to rip Liberty’s clothes off”, before she grew concerned about his attraction to Mary Bedford and Millie Court. Then there was the whole “I love you” debacle, when the girls told Liberty that Jake’s L-bomb might not have been genuine.
However, just when it looked like they might be getting over the bump in the road, things seem to be going from bad to worse as a teaser trailer for tonight’s episode showed a tearful Liberty admitting, “I just don’t think we’re right for each other.”
Amid speculation that this could be the final nail in the coffin for their romance, it’s been reported that Liberty and Jake’s final date could be the first to be axed in Love Island history.
A TV insider revealed to The Sun, “On tonight's show, the couples go on their epic dates - but because Liberty was so upset with Jake, it could be cancelled for the first time in show history. Both Faye and Teddy and Kaz and Tyler go on theirs tonight, but Lib and Jake don't go.
"Normally by this stage all of the couples are loved up but this has thrown a real spanner in the works - how can you send a couple on a romantic date when they're on the verge of a split?"

Last week, Love Island viewers are urged Liberty be aware of Jake's "red flags" and to "start realising her worth".
She later confronted Jake on the status of their relationship and told him, “I haven’t really spoken to you today. What’s going on?
“I do feel like since the whole rip the clothes off comment, I’ve been noticing a lot of similar things that have accumulated.”

However, following accusations that he’s a “game player” and that his feelings for Liberty aren’t genuine, Jake’s dad Mark has spoken out to defend his son – and he made some pretty savage comments in the process.
Papa Cornish told Bristol Live, “What you see on telly is Jake. There is no motive. He is genuine but he speaks before he thinks, so when you see him on the telly saying things, it’s because it’s coming from his heart and he’s just a nice lad.”
He continued, "They just see him on the telly and think that he’s in it for the money or he’s a bit of a, you know, bit of a snake and you know, I’m not being horrible to Jake but he’s not intelligent enough to have a game plan!”
