With all the excitement surrounding the current Love Island cast after Millie Court and Liam Reardon were crowned winners on Monday, we’d almost completely forgotten that there was a winter series of the ITV2 show last year.

It’s actually fair to say that it was one of the most successful series, with many of the couples who left the villa together – like Paige Turley and Finn Tapp, Siânnise Fudge and Luke Trotman and Molly Smith and Callum Jones – still an item to this day.

However, one of the couples series six produced, Rebecca Gormley and Biggs Chris, have sadly split after a year of dating.

Rebecca confirmed the news on while taking part in a Q&A with fans on Instagram last night.

When one of her followers asked, “Have you split up with Biggs? x,” she replied, “Everyone is asking is this question and the reason why I haven’t told you any sooner is that I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing.

“And it is the best thing for us so yeah, we have broke up.”

Their shock split has been revealed just weeks after he teased marriage plans.

“I’m waiting for Rebecca to ask me to marry her. I’m waiting for the ring, she got down on one knee yesterday as a joke,” Biggs told MailOnline, to which she replied, “You’ll be waiting for a long time cause I’m not getting down on one knee.”

The pair, who sparked pregnancy rumours last year, were also planning to move into their “dream home” in his native Glasgow.

In April, Biggs told The Sun, “We're still going between each other's houses, but we've started looking at places. Rebecca will be moving in soon - I'm really excited. She's so close to her mum, but said she would move up to Scotland with me.”
