Let’s be honest, it’s been a pretty dire year for TV so far. So many of our fave shows – from Love Island to The Apprentice – were either cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic but things are definitely looking up.
Not only has Strictly Come Dancing returned to our screens in recent weeks, but new series of I’m A Celeb, Celebs Go Dating and Ex on the Beach are all set to air very soon. The best news of all though is that Love Island bosses are reportedly starting to put the wheels in motion for the show’s big comeback next year.
Although this year’s summer series and the winter 2021 edition were cancelled, producers are apparently about to begin casting for next year’s summer series and we couldn’t be happier.
It’s claimed that producers have been given the go ahead to begin casting in January ahead of the show’s rumoured May start date.
A source revealed to The Sun, “Reality shows can now have huge casts living together as long as all participants and crew have isolated for two full weeks beforehand, as well as having regular temperature testing both on and off-set.
“Obviously there’s always an element of risk but ITV bosses feel it’s time to get the Love Island cogs turning, with a view to it being made in early summer.”

It was announced in May that this summer’s Love Island had to be shelved due to the pandemic, although ITV boss Kevin Lygo promised the show would return “stronger than ever”.
He said, “We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it’s just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.
“In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question. We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.”

Meanwhile, although it’s been months since the returned to the UK, drama is still brewing between the winter Love Island contestants after Demi Jones spoke out about her split from Luke Mabbott in a YouTube video.
The 22-year-old appeared to accuse Luke of talking to his now-girlfriend Lucie Donlan while they were still together but the Justin Bieber lookalike was then forced to share his side of the story after he and Lucie began to receive messages from trolls.
Luke revealed Demi asked him to delay their split until her clothing brand launch and explained, “Me and Demi split up on the 29th of May, that's when Lucie checked with me - a couple days after, a week after or something - to see if I was single and then we went on a date 17th June which wasn't in Cornwall, so I don't know where she's got Cornwall.”
