Remember Love Island series nine's Lydia Karakyriakou? She was the absolute Casa Amor SWEETHEART who captured the heart of serial flirt, Tom Clare (sorry, Tom, but you did hypnotise a LOT of LI girls with those hypnotic snake eyes of yours), only to be sent packing when Tom chose Samie Elishi over her at that brutal Casa recoupling.
Lydia left the show after a handful of days in Casa Amor and Tom and Samie went on to become one of the cutest couples in Love Island history. Our poor torn hearts.
The next time we saw Lydia, she was wishing Tom and Samie all the best for the future at the Love Island reunion (utter class) and had swiftly become one of our favourite style and beauty influencers overnight.
Since leaving Love Island, Lydia has been very open and honest with her fans, conducting regular Instagram Q&As where she frequently talks about her Casa Amor experience, her co-stars, and her style and beauty regimes.
In her most recent Q&A, things got personal when one fan asked, "Are you open to dating after LI?"
Lydia, filmed her answer, revealing that dating has not been easy since appearing on the reality show. She said, "If you'd have asked me this a month ago, I would've said, yes. Now, unsure.
"I don't know what it is; I don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong places or this is just guys in this day and age. I feel like guys can't do the bare minimum these days, and when I say the bare minimum, I mean they don't know how to communicate, they can't be honest, they can't be upfront, there's like no level of respect when it comes to talking to people.
"It's weird. I try not to generalise, but I feel it's just like an ongoing thing. What hope have we got?"
Although Lydia did not name and shame any guys in particular, her admission did remind us of her last public encounter with a potential suitor.
At the end of February 2023, while being grilled on the Love Island: The Morning After, the official Love Island podcast, Lydia revealed that fellow Casa Amor Islander, Kai Reed, had slid into her DMs following their respective dumpings.
At the time, Lydia said of Kain, "He's already asking basically for a date, he's on his way back to Newcastle and it would be nice to maybe arrange and meet up at some point.
"I'd happily meet up with him at some point, but at the same time, I'm just trying to figure everything out.
"I don't want to rush everything."
Obviously, only Lydia knows for sure which lad (or lads) she is talking about in her recent Q&A, so we're not pointing fingers at anyone in particular here, but what we will say is this: Lydia is now a Love Island and heatworld icon and must be protected at all costs.
