Maya Jama and Ben Simmons
Rumours that Maya had got engaged to her basketball boyfriend Ben Simmons had been rife since December 2021, after reports emerged that he popped the question over Christmas.
But it was Ben’s tattoo artist that seemingly let the cat out of the bag when he posted and then deleted on Philly Joe 215 Tattoo Studio's Instagram account, "Honoured and humbled to have gotten this opportunity to tattoo my boy @bensimmons and his fiancée and her friend from the UK LONDON AWESOME FOLKS GOOD TIME AND A GREAT DINNER THANKS TO YOUR CHIEF!"
Maya then strutted down the BRITs 2022 red carpet with a MASSIVE rock on her finger and then had to dodge questions live on telly about her engagement from host Mo Gilligan during the ceremony.
After Mo commented on "the amazing rock on [her] finger", Maya sassily shut him down, replying, "Let’s move on".
Fast forward to September 2022 and reports surfaced that Maya and Ben, who lives in New Jersey, had split.
A source told The Sun, "Maya called it off after things came to head last month. She is not going back to New York now, it's heartbreaking for both of them, especially as they were so committed to each other.
"They're both young and want to focus on their careers. Maya has a bright future ahead of her with job offers coming in all over the world and is feeling positive.
"She has been hitting the gym a lot and spending time with her good friends."
But in a shock twist, Maya then cryptically wrote on Twitter, "Stop believing 'sources' in papers plz."
Then Ben gave Instagram an update and suggested that these split rumours were nothing but that – rumours – after sharing an pic of the pair from a year ago on his Instagram Story, commenting, "@mayajama almost a year older😅."
However it seems that Maya and Ben have split for good as she's moved back to the UK and hasn't been seen with her engagement ring.
Maya Jama and Chunkz
In September 2020, Maya and Chunkz - whose real name is - Amin Mohamed sparked rumours that something was going on between them after the Soccer Aid charity match.
It all began when Chunkz tweeted, "Missed a pen but i bagged Maya Jama, so who really won?"
Maya quickly (and jokingly) shut him down by responding, "We’re def prob related but we can be BFFs for life chunkell."
LOL.
And it seems Chunkz found the funny side of it (sort of) when he tweeted, "So I took 2 L’s in less than 24 hours haha…"
However it wasn't long before they were FaceTiming and Maya even gave Chunkz a chance... Well, kind of.
"Yo you lot, had a chat with my babes and she’s given me a chance! First date next week, wish me luck! @MayaJama," he tweeted at the time.
She then replied, "Consistency is Key".
We love to see it. Turns out they're just friends but we think they'd make a great couple, tbh.
Maya Jama and Drake
We know, we know you probably didn't think Drake would be on this list but he is.
Cast your mind back to July 2020. Pretty sure we'd just come out of the first lockdown and Drake dropped a song with Maya Jama's name in it - obsessed.
Drake and Headie One released their song Only You Freestyle and it's in this track that the Canadian rapper mentions the Love Island host.
"Chubbs might jam this yute for a chain. And gave it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama," he said.
Things then got stranger when Maya broke her silence about the song and said, "Nothing [is going on with Drake]. I haven't ever met him, just to confirm."
So they didn't date because she hadn't - back in 2020, not sure about now - met him but still she's in his song. That counts for something... right?
Maya Jama and Stormzy
The relationship you've most definitely heard of - Maya and Stormzy.
Let's be honest we're all still rooting for them. The duo first met in 2014 and secretly started dating in 2015.
Speaking about their relationship, Maya told Vogue, "We met in October, then we were going out by January. We met at Red Bull Culture Clash."
She continued, "You know, if I’m really honest, I knew I fancied him from the start. But I didn’t want anything yet, because, you know, you’re trying to do the whole friend situation first, and then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me.
"It was a childish phase. And then one day we just kissed, and that was that!"
Their relationship went public in 2016 and not only did Stormzy dedicate his song 'Birthday Girl' to Maya on her 22nd birthday, she appeared in his music video for Too Big For Your Boots.
However in 2019, shortly after Stormzy attended Maya's birthday party it came to light that they had split.
And if you want to know why they split, well, Stormzy released his song Lessons that pretty much sums up what went wrong.
Luckily things didn't end that badly because in a shock twist, Maya and Stormzy were pictured together at Christmas in 2020 but nothing seemed to come of it.
She's since revealed the song that she listened to following her apparent split with Stormzy. On her Insta Story she explained, "Fun fact - when I was going through a breakup some years ago I didn't wana listen to sad/love songs so I would play k trap every morning instead (it helped) 😂."
