It’s only been a month since Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury virtually stopped the planet spinning with news that they had called it quits after five years together. But mere weeks later, it looks like Love Island’s former golden couple could be on the brink of reconciling, leaving alarm bells reportedly ringing for the reality star’s loved ones.
From the get-go, the heartbroken influencer made it clear that their split had come as a shock, writing on Instagram, ‘I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way’.
Rumours soon emerged, alleging that Tommy had been unfaithful – something he denies – and had been begging his partner for forgiveness.
Now, insiders tell heat that the pair, who met on Love Island 2019 and share one-year-old daughter Bambi, are planning a ‘make-or-break’ holiday away together to the Maldives to see if they can sort things out and get their relationship back on track. However, we’re told this is concerning for Molly-Mae’s loved ones, who are worried she might be forgiving Tommy too easily.
‘Tommy’s doing everything in his power to win Molly back and he’s done a pretty good job at breaking her down. She’s seems to be letting him back into her life, which is worrying,’ our source shares.
‘Molly’s friends are understandably concerned about the prospect of her not only giving Tommy another chance, but of rekindling things so quickly. She’s been at rock bottom and in a state of complete shock for the last few weeks. Everyone around her is concerned that she’s acting on emotion and thinking with her heart, rather with her head.’
When Molly-Mae, 25, made her shock split announcement last month, the influencer made no attempt to hide that she was ‘extremely upset’. Less than an hour later, Tommy, who’s also 25, released his own statement, echoing that he, too, was heartbroken.
But according to reports, things were messy and volatile behind the scenes before their break-up. Molly-Mae had spoken in YouTube videos about struggling with ‘solo parenting’ while boxer Tommy was away for work. It’s been rumoured that he cheated on her multiple times during trips such as these, including with a Danish woman he met in Macedonia.
Through it all, we’re told that Molly-Mae has been relying on her mum Debbie and best friend Anoushka, who have been warning her to stay strong despite Tommy’s apparent attempts to reconnect.
‘Right now, all Molly can think about is how to get things back on track and the times she’s spent with Tommy recently have given her hope and made her feel like everything will be OK,’ we’re told. ‘Anoushka and her mum have both warned that she could be making a big mistake, simply because she misses him and doesn’t want Bambi to grow up in a broken home.’
Despite all this, however, Molly-Mae and Tommy have both made it clear that their daughter is their priority. Both parties mentioned Bambi in their respective split statements, after welcoming their little girl in January 2023.
For Molly-Mae, returning to work has been an important step in the break-up. She’s launching her new fashion line, Maebe, later this month, and got back on YouTube mere weeks after the separation.
In her first video, Molly-Mae said that she had no intention of revealing the nitty-gritty details of the break-up online. However, she did suggest that her feelings for Tommy – even in the wake of the cheating allegations – weren’t cut and dry. ‘He is Bambi’s dad and I will always value him and respect him and, obviously, always have a lot of love for him,’ she said.
But while Molly-Mae won’t badmouth her ex, we’re told her friends and family remain concerned that she might be letting him off the hook too easily.
‘Molly-Mae’s friends have advised her that she can’t even consider taking him back if there’s no trust there,’ we’re told. ‘They fear she’s going to end up potentially destroying her life if she rushes back into things, so they’re just praying she sees sense.’
