The latest series of Married At First Sight Australia finally hit our screens in the UK last week and it is GOOD.
The Aussie brides and grooms always bring the drama and this year has been no exception, with the relationship between Lauren Hall and Eliot Donovan keeping us entertained from the start. Not only did Lauren’s sister’s Tamara wild wedding antics cause a stir, but Lauren and Eliot then called it quits on their honeymoon not lot after they said ‘I do’.
But they’re not the only reasons Lauren’s been hitting the headlines as it recently came to light that she’d previously dated MAFS Australia 2024 groom Jono McCullough.
Jono, who is still in a relationship with co-star Ellie Dix, recently spoke out about Lauren’s involvement in the experiment for the first time and admitted that he’d tried to warn her off taking part in the show.
He said, ‘When I heard she was going on the show, a friend of hers reached out and told me, and I was like, are you sure she wants to do this? Because I know what she’s like.
‘She says exactly what she’s thinking. She doesn’t know filter.’
Speaking to Sky News Australia, Jono continued, ‘She knows what she wants, and she’s just like, “this is what I want, this is what I think.” And that doesn’t, that’s not conducive to a good time on MAFS. I don’t know if it’s going to end well.’
But when asked if Lauren was receptive to his warning, he admitted she ‘wouldn't have probably taken much feed off what I said’.
It’s thought that Jono and Lauren dated for around three months before splitting when they realised they were ‘too different’.
A source told Daily Mail Australia, ‘Production were hoping to quietly sweep it under the rug, but word got around that she was appearing on the show and they knew each other.'
During his time on MAFS, Jono was matched with Lauren Dunn by the show’s experts. However, their relationship didn’t work out and he later recoupled with co-star Ellie following the breakdown of her marriage to Ben Walters.
Jono and Ellie are still together to this day and even went into business together last year.
