It’s no secret that a few of the Married At First Sight UK cast have previous telly appearances under their belt; Charlie Curtis appeared on Lovestruck High a couple of years ago, Lacey Martin has been on Dress to Impress and Fred’s Last Resort, and Sacha Jones has starred on Beauty School Cop Outs and Beauty and the Geek.

However, it turns out bosses have been trying to get their mitts on one of the stars of an even bigger show: Love Island. What a crossover that would be.

Love Island 2023 bombshell Mal Nicol – who previously worked at heat magazine, FYI – recently took to Instagram to share messages from a casting producer who had slid into her DMs.

‘Hey lovely, hope you’re well. I work for Married At First Sight and was just wondering if you might be interested in applying? Thanks lovely xxx,’ the opening message read.

Mal replied, ‘Hahahahahah how funny. I’m legit watching the show but no way!! Thanks tho,’ followed by three laughing emojis.

The producer didn’t give up, however, and came back, ‘Are you sure?? Happy to chat about it on the phone if you’re interested x.’

But Mal has a very good reason for turning down the E4 show; she’s very much got a boyfriend.

‘Lol I am in a relationship hahahahaha,’ she told the DM slider.

Mal’s new relationship has flown under the radar a little bit as she’s maintained a relatively low profile since leaving the villa, but she’s currently dating investment banker Harvey Thrower.

Harvey is pals with another 2023 Islander, Josh Brocklebank, and it’s thought that’s how he met Mal.

The pair hard launched their relationship back in March and have been happily loved up ever since. While we’re chuffed that Mal’s found love, we are a bit gutted that she won’t be on the next series of All Stars.

He became obsessed with Love Island when Malin Andersson came back to confront Terry Walsh in series two and hasn’t looked back since. When he’s not interviewing former Islanders, Nathan is scrolling through their Instagram feeds for relationship updates and piping hot tea.
