The Married At First Sight Australia drama recently reached fever pitch when Sara Mesa was accused of cheating on her husband Tim Calwell with her ex-boyfriend in explosive dinner party scenes.
ICYMI, Sara was called out by fellow bride Eden Harper for meeting up with her ex for dinner. Eden told her husband Jayden Eynaud, who said, “Even if nothing happened, meeting up with your ex partner behind your husband's back is a form of cheating. It's wrong no matter which way you put it."
Eden then issued an ultimatum, telling Sara she would spill the beans to Tim if she didn’t ‘fess up herself. As we’ve come to expect from MAFS Australia, things kicked right off at the dinner party as the news made its way around the group and Sara tried to defend herself from the accusations, insisting she has “never ever cheated on a partner”.
However, it seems that Sara’s done some reflecting since then as she recently opened up about the whole debacle and admitted that she did “emotionally cheat” on Tim with her ex.
Speaking during an appearance on Australian radio show Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie, Sara finally took some accountability and said, “It’s definitely an emotional cheat. I definitely take on board that what I did was wrong and I think one of my major regrets was not being more apologetic and not consoling Tim right then and there.
“I think in that moment, my heart came out of my ass a little and I was like, ‘Holy crap, I’m on national television. Everyone’s going to think I’m a cheater, and I didn’t cheat.’ So I think I went into defence mode, which obviously wasn’t the best thing to do. I obviously should have just apologised straight away but I felt absolutely caught off guard.”
As if the whole dinner party row wasn’t chaotic enough, Sara also revealed that the group were referring to TWO different exes in the dramatic bust-up.
“The first ex was the one that I met up with and he's been on and off with his girlfriend for six years. The second ex is the one I hooked up with before the experiment, not the first,” she explained to Nine Australia.
