One Direction fans were sent into a frenzy earlier this month when the band appeared to confirm they were planning to reunite later this year to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Not only did Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson all refollow Zayn Malik on Twitter for the first time since he left the band in 2015 but Liam pretty much confirmed a reunion was in the works in an interview with a tabloid newspaper.

As if that wasn’t enough, eagle-eyed fans spotted that the band’s website had been reactivated and their albums have been reissued on Apple Music too.

While the exact details of the anniversary celebrations haven’t been confirmed, Liam appeared to reveal a key detail about the reunion last night in an Instagram Live session with DJ Alesso.

The 26 year old let slip that he’s planning a group FaceTime call with the others to plot the details of their reunion but appeared to confirm Zayn wouldn’t be involved when he joked that Alesso should join the band.

“Most of us are in London. We've been trying to arrange the first group FaceTime at the moment. You can come and fill in for Zayn. Join the band,” he told the DJ and producer.

Liam Payne - One Direction

After One Direction started their hiatus in 2016, all four remaining members decided to go solo. Liam Payne released a number of hit singles, including the likes of 'Strip That Down', 'Get Low' and 'Bedroom Floor'. Liam has also teamed up Rita Ora on the single 'For You' and worked with Jonas Blue for the 2018 track 'Polaroid'.

When asked more about their plans, Liam admitted, “I can't say too much. Louis told me off for revealing a bit about our plans the other day. So I had a group telling off on the group chat.”

Liam first opened up about 1D’s reunion earlier this month when he told The Sun, “We've got a ten-year anniversary coming up so we've all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice. To hear a lot of people's voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven't seen for a long time or never seen before, it's very interesting.

“At the moment I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say. There's a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.

“But more than anything it's just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”
