Every year, we wait excitedly to see how the nation’s favourite brands will interpret Christmas in their festive adverts. Previously, many companies have impressed with their offerings, but there is no doubt who sits at the top of the tree, every year. John Lewis delivers as reliably as Santa himself. This year is no different.
The 2021 John Lewis ad tells the magical tale of 14-year-old Nathan, who meets an #UnexpectedGuest, space traveller, Skye, after she lands in the woods near his home.
Giving us real Eleven from Stranger Things vibes, Skye is introduced to the wonderful Christmas traditions we hold dear, such as decorating the tree, eating mince pies and watching Christmas films. As their friendship develops, we see the magic of Christmas through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the very first time. Did you just get chills, too?
After Christmas 2020 left many of us disappointed, we're no doubt all looking forward to celebrating those little festive traditions, surrounded by our loved ones. BRB, crying into our Cheerios.
A version of Nathan’s Christmas jumper that he gifts to Skye will be available in-store and online, and John Lewis will be donating 10% of the profits for each jumper sold equally to FareShare, and Home-Start. What's more, all the products featured in the advert are from John Lewis, so customers will be able to shop key scenes. We've got our eye on those baubles...
