As much as we love I'm A Celeb for showcasing celebs downing pints of fish guts and getting buried alive with rats the size of Michael Kors bags, let's be honest, a huge part of the appeal of the ITV reality series is all the potential contestant gossip in the months leading up to the main event.
And as it turns out, we got a much bigger kick out of speculating over whether Nigel Farage was going into the jungle than we did actually watching him eat animal udders this time last year – although that was very cathartic, wasn't it?
What we're saying is, when it comes to I'm A Celeb the build up is just as exciting as the main event. And with just weeks to go until a dozen or so celebs get chucked (perhaps literally from a plane) into the Australian jungle, we're in the eye of the speculation storm - and one name that has been doing the rounds for weeks now is Love Island 2019 star Tommy Fury.
News of Tommy's involvement in the 2024 series started doing the rounds a matter of weeks after his ex-fiancé Molly-Mae Hague announced the couple's split, amid claims that Tommy had been unfaithful (something he has denied).
Tommy – who shares daughter Bambi with Molly-Mae – would've obviously been a phenomenal signing for I'm A Celeb as Love Island fans would've no doubt tuned in to hear Tommy's side of the story (probably over some beans around the campfire).
Notice how we've started writing in the past tense.
Of course, there has been a lot of speculation over the current status of Molly and Tommy's relationship two months on (although as far as we're aware they are still separated) and according to reports, the boxer has pulled out of the series just weeks before he was set to fly to Australia.
It's claimed that Tommy decided to pass on his no doubt big money I'm A Celeb offer for a 'more lucrative project', which is thought to be a boxing rematch between him and KSI.
A source told The Sun, 'Bosses are surprised Tommy has chosen to pull out of I'm A Celebrity at this late stage as it would have been a great opportunity for him, too.
'Thankfully, the execs already had some great names waiting in the wings so they'll now be looking at which ones fit best into the line up already booked so they can deliver a truly great series.
'With only weeks to go, bosses have lined up one of the most exciting casts in the show's history.'
And to be honest, they're not wrong. If the rumours are true (and they often are) fans can look forward to seeing the likes of Coleen Rooney, Tulisa and Oti Mabuse munching on kangaroo testicles and gobbling fish eyes in no time.
Call it a hunch, but we can't help but feel like this I'm A Celeb pull-out might have something to do with those rumours that Tommy and Molly-Mae are chatting behind closed doors.
Side note – do you think I'm A Celeb is one of those moments that future generations will look back on in hundreds of years time and think, 'What the f*ck were they thinking?'
