Self-care will forever be our favourite hobby but we appreciate that recharging and putting yourself first looks different for everyone. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their ideal self-care Sunday routines, the hard-working beauty products they recommend to their friends and which TV show they're currently binging…

This week it's all about Kaz Kamwi, the good vibes queen best known for starring in Love Island 2021. She served us endless bodycon inspo, motivational pep talks andsilk hair bonnets (which we bought by the bucket load!). Don't even get us started on her unwavering commitment to matching her eyeshadow to her outfit. Legendary.

Kaz was so good, that she was brought back for Love Island All-Stars earlier this year and told heat how it was VERY different from the first time.

"This time we were older, wiser and knew everyone else already, which made the first step a lot quicker, Kaz shared. "We also had a lot more time in the day this time around because last time we had so many challenges that took up time whereas this time it was quite relaxed. It felt a lot more natural and organic this time which was nice."

Kaz chats exclusively to heat about skincare routines, life-changing books and how she spends a self-care Sunday...

On Love Island make-up favourites

What were the beauty bits that Kaz relied on during her time on Love Island All-Stars?

"Primer was the biggest thing because it was so hot out there. I was using Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer and honestly, it was a game changer! Then the Dior Addict Lip Oil is another game changer - I used it on top of my lip products and in the daytime when I wasn't wearing any make-up.

"Last time, [during the 2021 season] I was wearing make-up during the day and this time, I just liked using tinted balms and moisturisers. I discovered Natasha Denona's one a few days before going into the villa. I only went in with one and I was nearly running out by the end, I was honestly going to cry!"

On stealing products from the villa

Which make-up products were so good, they had to be stashed in Kaz's suitcase?

"Plenty of setting sprays, including the Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray, which is a must. I also stole about three of the Fenty Beauty Lip Scrubs. I requested lip scrubs in there because my lips started to get really crusty after a few days. Not ideal for kissing the men in the challenges!"

On self-care

What does the ultimate self-care day look like for the Islander?

"Self-care for me is a nice bubble bath with the music on. I've been listening to a lot of SZA because that is my girl, I love her. I'm really into burning candles whilst I have a bath. My favourite candle right now is probably Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka. I've got the perfume and then I had the candle gifted to me for Christmas and I'm obsessed with it, I'm buying it constantly.

"I’m one of those weirdos that when I get out of the bath, I need to shower. I love a body scrub, one of my favourites is the Soap & Glory ones. I love pretty much all of them. Then I use the Simple Shower Gel which has no fragrance. Sometimes I use a body brush. Then I get some Aveeno moisturiser on, some cute PJs on and get into bed. I’m turning 30 this year, it’s about time I turn wholesome!"

On skincare

Kaz's skin looks flawless, but has she always had good skin?

"My skin has always given back what I’ve given it. I’ve gone through periods where I’ve been out loads, been on holiday, had loads to drink and not much water, and then I break out. When I don’t look after my skin, it shows so I’m quite careful. Now I drink a lot of water and a lot of cranberry juice as well.

"I also go to Dr Esho and use his skincare routine from PH Formula. I recently got some skin mapping done to understand my skin more, but I tend to keep my routine simple."

On budget beauty buys

Kaz's favourite budget beauty buy is the worst kept secret in beauty - a universal skin balm that doubles as a glowy primer - loved by everyone from Molly-Mae Hague to Victoria Beckham.

"I love Weleda Skin Food which was introduced to me by the girls on the show [Mary Bedford and Chloe Burrows are both big fans]. I use it as a primer and it's so good.

"It really hydrates the skin and gives you a glowy, healthy look. You literally look like you've put a little bit of oil on your face, it's so good. It's a great primer but it's universal. It works for all skin types and tones, too."

On daily wellness habits

"I just love journaling, I try to do it in the mornings. If I’m going somewhere quickly and don’t manage to open my actual journal, I find myself doing it on my Notes app on my phone. It just sets the tone for how my day is going to go."

"My other thing is that I love to shop. I like a little pick-me-up here and there. Sometimes it’s as simple as treating myself to a Nando’s or a new mascara. Then sometimes I go all out and I’m like, “Let’s book a holiday!”

On life-changing books

"I really like Slay In Your Lane by Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinené, because it’s a reminder to do things at your own pace. In this industry, it’s really hard to not try and compete with other people and look around. The only thing you can do for yourself is compete with your old self. It’s the one book that really changed my mindset around that."

On really great advice

"The main advice people give to me is to keep the light I have. Sometimes I struggle in situations but everyone always says to me, ‘The best thing you can do is just be yourself.’ It’s so cliche but it’s important to keep being you or keep the light you have. Everyone tried to dim it, but you have to keep it going.

"Another good piece of advice. Someone sent me a TikTok the other day and it was like, 'Are they playing hard to get or are you playing hard to get rid of?' That has changed my mind in terms of dating. It makes you sit down and think, 'Are you chasing the man or is he putting the effort in?' Because the one thing about me, I'm not chasing men in 2024!"

Quickfire round:

Show you’re currently binging? I’m about to start One Day on Netflix, but I'm terrified!

Go-to cuppa? I love green tea with honey and lemon or peppermint tea.

Go-to loungewear brand? It's between Savage Fenty, Boux Avenue and Skims.

Everyday perfume? I use Dior's Oud Isphahan and I mix it with Ariana Grande's Pink Cloud.

Go-to takeaway order? I literally always got a spaghetti bolognese from Prezzo! My friends honestly judge me so hard for it.

Favourite candle? Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka.
