Whimsigoth has been all over our feeds lately, and we have to say it's making us feel all kinds of nostalgia. The trending style combines elements of throwback fashion with just enough of a modern twist to create a brand new witchy aesthetic that we are here for, tbh. And we've found the best whimsigoth outfits...

And, with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot making headlines, what better time to add a little whimsical and gothic to our spring wardrobes? We're following in the footsteps of witchy girlfriends Willow and Tara, as well as the titular character, the iconic Buffy Summers, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

That's why we've put together some of the best whimsigoth outfits, so you can nail the trending TikTok and Buffy-core style. Particularly fitting for sad girl autumn and cold winter months, we're hoping that the whimsigoth aesthetic is here to stay all year round.

The latest aesthetic to be born from TikTok, whimsigoth combines the whimsical world of '70s bohemian fashion with the romance of alternative '90s gothic. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a great show to take inspiration from. It's moody and gothic in its stylings throughout. Because it consists of so many styles, it's hard to pin down just one point of reference or inspiration.

One thing we know for sure? It's absolutely everywhere at the moment.

Want to give this look a go? The best whimsigoth outfits for a Buffy look can be found at some of our favourite brands, such as ASOS Reclaimed, Urban Outfitters and Free People.

A print mesh top will add whimsy to any outfit. Styling from ASOS is spot on here, as we can see you sporting chokers, crystal jewellery and chain belts true to the whismigoth aesthetic.

Piper's favourite brand (!)

Disturbia's Rosaleigh Flock Velour Mesh Midaxi Dress perfectly captures the witchy magic in any whimsigoth outfit. We'd style this showstopper of a dress with a black velvet choker and chunky black stone rings. Don't forget some black boots (to boot).

This UO Pink Mesh Flocked Maxi Dress is just a dream. We are loving the darkness of the black maxi dress, but we also love the purple damask accents, too. Perfect for any witchy woman.

Buffycore (!)

River Island PU cropped bomber jacket in burgundyASOS / River Island

What's more Buffy than a burgundy leather jacket? This jacket wouldn't look out of place at a Fleetwood Mac gig. You could layer this with a whimsy dress, fishnet tights and chunky boots.

This early noughties-inspired blouse with romantic lace is so versatile and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. It adds a hint of whimsy to your whole look.

Etsy Moon Stars Celestial Metal BeltEtsy

These celestial belts are selling out everywhere. In high demand at Etsy, you can choose between silver and gold depending on what tone matches you best. These belts feature the sun, moon and stars as a nod to nature. We could see either Willow or Tara wearing this pick.

Ugh - this screams Buffy Summers. Pair with a dark black coat and flared jeans for the look.

How to recreate the whimsigoth aesthetic?

If you want to incorporate a bit of whimsigoth into your everyday look, there are a few things you can do. Experiment with colours, textures and layers. Rich colours like reds, purples, greens and teals work really well. Alternatively, you can go muted with black, brown, khaki and cream.

In terms of materials, you can't go wrong with choices like velvet, mesh and lace. Jacquard, floral, paisley and celestial prints are also really popular when it comes to whimsigoth clothing. Corsets, flares, bell sleeves and maxi lengths are also all wardrobe staples here.

Accessories are key with this. Think mood rings, crystal necklaces and chain belts. Remember, you're going for witchy vibes, so anything that makes you look like you've just stepped out of the iconic '90s movie Practical Magic will have you nailing the aesthetic. Buffy-inspired outfits are IN.
