When we think of M&S, we think of Fleetwood Mac's Albatross playing its sultry tune while Joanna Lumley tells the UK public that this is NOT just a melt in the middle pudding, it's an M&S melt in the middle pudding with organic cocoa from diamond-crusted cocoa beans...or something like that.
When we think of M&S, what we certainly don't expect to see is the aubergine emoji - which we all know doesn't actually represent the vegetable - finding its way into the hallowed halls of Britain's best kept secret.
Seriously, the Americans will never know the deliciousness of the delicacy that is....a Percy Pig.
So yes, when we found out that M&S, home of Colin the Caterpillar, was launching an aubergine-shaped Easter egg, we were, in all honesty, shocked.
Playing on the egg-cellently punny American name for an aubergine, M&S' Egg-Plant Kitchen vegan easter egg looks exactly like the emoji. Unlike its farmyard pals, Percy and Penny Pig, Candice Cow and Sharon Sheep, the Egg-Plant easter egg is somewhat less wholesome.
But, though M&S may have thrown a curveball our way this Easter, we think we're here for it?
After all, who doesn't like a) a well timed egg pun and b) the seeming innocence of the aubergine emoji.
While a fair few M&S shoppers will probably pass by the offending easter egg none the wiser (fingers crossed gran just thinks it's an ode to the Mediterranean vegetable) , its fans on Instagram were reeling in the hilarity of the item.
Commenting on M&S' initial post about the product, one follower wrote, "The only bloody 🍆 I can find!"
