Love Island’s Sophie Piper flouts travel ban for Maldives holiday with boyfriend

Fans are NOT happy

Love Island's Sophie Piper

Sophie Piper, who rose to fame on the first ever winter edition of Love Island last year, has become the latest reality star to escape the UK amid the third national lockdown.

But unlike the droves of influencers who have flocked to Dubai, Sophie has instead jetted off to the Maldives for a romantic vacay with her new boyfriend Casey despite the current ban on non-essential travel.

The 22 year old, whose sister is The Saturdays singer-turned-TV presenter Rochelle Humes, has been sharing snaps from her trip on Instagram but fans aren’t happy with her for seemingly flouting the rules.

After she posted a beachside snap on the ‘gram with the caption, “Trust the timing in your life,” many of Sophie’s followers took to the comments section to question why she had travelled given the current circumstances.

“So everyone going to ignore the fact she’s travelled with a PANDEMIC going on? Smh,” wrote one.

Another added, “Guess the lockdown rules don’t apply to you then?”

“Covid-19 is still a thing. You should be having good times at home,” commented a third, while one more remarked, “Interesting to know how you got to travel.”

The Love Island star’s model boyfriend Casey also shared his own holiday photo as he enjoyed lunch next to the sea.

Not much is known about the pair’s relationship, which is Sophie’s first since appearing on the ITV2 dating show, but she posted a rare sighting of him earlier this month when fans asked her to show a picture of her at her “happiest”.

Sophie responded with a selfie of her cuddling up to Casey and wrote, “Very happy right now 🥰.”

Sophie split from her villa romance Connor Durman last July, six months after they first got together on the show.

Although they never became official boyfriend and girlfriend, Connor and Sophie had teased plans to move in together but things “fizzled out” between them as they were kept apart by lockdown.

“They never even went official,” a source told The Sun at the time.

"It just didn’t have a chance to get started because of lockdown and they both agreed it was better to just stay friends.”

Their split came after Sophie admitted, “No, we are not together at all! We are just seeing each other! It is a situation-ship. I'm just enjoying that. I will get to know him, go on dates with him.”
